1M clutch stop

I just installed a Clutch Stop to get rid of all that "play" at the bottom of the clutch's travel. MAN, it really works WELL!-- shifts are much easier to get smooth. I researched the topic on the main board, and found several. This one ....http://www.ebay.com/itm/ws/eBayISAPI...E:L:OC:US:1123
... is a Ebay seller. It sells for $10.95 including shipping-- came from Calif to Va from Fri to Mon. { dont have any connection with this guy}... but it works well on the 1M, is a 30 sec install, and has 4 washers so you can adjust it as needed. I can still start the car even with all 4 washers installed... if you push the clutch all the way to the stop.

i have a similar one from ebay, same seller. Looks like he dropped his price.
It came with 4 washers and i didnt like the feel/length of it, i removed 1 washer and that works great for me.

Ordered!
Being my first manual transmission, I think I'll break it in without the stop and after I get the hang of it maybe put it in. Nothing wrong with being prepared right?
Sorry to go off topic, but...
Any advice to a first timer? I've driven about 5 manual cars in my tme, but never for more than 15 min. I plan on taking extra caution with the 1M.
Any specific characteristic to the 1M? Any tips? haha

Also is there any danger if the clutch stop does happen to come out to somehow jam any of the pedals?

Release the clutch slowly or get the clutch stop installed before your first drive. Be ready to stall in a (up-hill) road for several times though, then you be fine. Just don't stall in front of dealership.

Several folks in the original e90 thread mentioned the part breaking after 3-4 months. Another recommended using a thread appliance foot with a couple nuts.

I'll likely order one, but I may peruse HD or ACE for a more robust solution first.

Best thing to do is to let me break the car in for you till mine gets here in December. I'll even find you a beater with a manual till then.

PM me!

I've had this on my car (same one as the OP) for a couple months now with all the washers. Combined with the CDV delete its made shifting so much smoother.

Oh poop.

Seriously, if you're not used to a manual, I would not start learning on the 1M. The power to weight ratio and the fact that is a brand new, relatively rare car would make me leery about abusing it accidentally.

Find a beater for a couple of grand and drive the hell out of it till December. You can probably sell it back for the same amount once your 1M gets here if you're so inclined.

I'm still struggling to understand why one would need such a thing... I mean the only time I'm pushing the clutch pedal all the way to the stop in a manual is maybe when I'm stopped in traffic with 1st engaged, and at that point I don't really care about the 'feel' of whatever the pedal is pushing against.

How could such a device make 'shifting smoother' as some say here??

IF your foot/leg is good enough to push fast in the the point that the clutch "just" disengage and no futher, then you probably don't need a clutch stop. If you push it futher than needed, you have to modulate your foot/leg a little more when you start releasing the clutch. The clutch stop just makes it easier to do the change smother and faster... that is all it does-- my foot/leg ain't so talented that it can't use a little help!
