Horrible has happened

So yes i had my car out yesterday in the snow and yes the worst has happened i slide into a car going about 3 miles an hour and caught the corner of the truck trying to dodge it on my headlight , headlight destroyed front bumper too as well as the hood, right front fender may be okay. Really need some comfort right now how long do you think it will take to fix im figuring these parts are going to be really hard to get

Oh my, I was wondering if anyone was going out in our "first icy storm" yesterday .... if you can figure out the list of "full" replacement versus "repairable" then you can put a better guess on repair time ....... surprised 3mph did that much damage, do you have any pics?

Good Luck!

so sorry to hear,

here's what you wanna do:
- hurricane season in the Caribbean is on the decline; book a 2 week last minute holiday and drop the car off at the repair shop on your way to the airport
- Or go live with your 1///M buddy during the repair. If you do not have one i'm sure some-one will volunteer in the next posts ...

In no time it will all just be a bad memory

Sorry to hear that! Hopefully service parts aren't as hard to come by as you might think and the repair will be quick. Sounds like a simple repair once they have the parts. Best of luck.

It's going to be okay. It sounds reparable. Just pace yourself on your expectations to keep yourself from going crazy. Parts are plentiful, but may take time to get.

Look at the bright side. It mostly sounds like superficial damage. After you replace everything your car should look perfect again.

Sorry to hear man. I was caught out in the storm yesterday too. Drove to work and it was clear and then snow starting coming down quickly, I ended up leaving the car in the garage and work and catching a ride home.

Hopefully you get this fixed soon and then you'll forget all about it.

Sorry to hear. I was moving yesterday, so had no option but to drive. Snow tires not on yet.

Luckily I was able to make it to the new place and then parked it and used gf's SUV to move.

I feel your pain bro. I scratched my front bumper and rim in the first month--the car is so damned wide!

You've got superficial damage. It's easily replaced/repaired and you'll be made whole in no time. Until then...

More Sympathy from the West Coast!

Sorry to hear that. I admire you guys that live in the East Coast since you have a 1M and "Real" weather. Very sorry hear that. Maybe right now it might not help but if I can make a attempt to cheer you up a little:

1. Nobody really got hurt. We have a friend whose 9 year old girl is in a coma now for 3 months after a car accident.

2. The 1M was meant to be driven every day. Unlike the M3 that is tuned for high RPM, track car, ours is an urban torque warrior and in some way, once your car is fixed, I think you will feel liberated that your car has "battle damage" and can enjoy it more now. Yes, you do think about resale value, collection value, etc. but there is some weird sort of relief once your car is damaged and repaired...like OK, the car is still fun and I survived it.

I hope that helps a little bit, I know right now though you just need some sympathy from your fellow 1M guys...so here is a bunch of it from the West Coast!

I know this probably won't help the cause, but you're telling me a 3mph collision caused all this trouble? What are these cars made of, butter?

<40' F temps + ice/snow + 345> HP = crash!

Sorry to hear of your woes. But I hope you get yourself a nice set of 18" snow tires soon.

+1

Plus stock tires (summer performance tires) = Crash

I am sorry to hear about this but am surprised you actually attempted to drive it at all in the snow. I was away all weekend and had to shovel my driveway before I even attempted to get it in the garage. This storm definitely caught us out though. I wasn't planning on getting snow tires myself until early December (usually first snow around here).

If there's one thing I learned at the PCD, it's that you can literally stand on the brake pedal to maximize stopping power.

Don't be shy, practice practice practice with those hard stops!

That won't help sliding through snow/ice on summer tires.

Never try to drive on snow/ice with Summers tires...this is exactly why. Luckily it was minor and nobody was hurt.
