Dinan

I called Dinan today and per their service rep Dinan will release their tunes by mid December of 2011 for the N55. Thought I pass that along, I am going with stage 2.

Wonder how similar it will be to the N54 numbers (price too). I imagine new DPs and a CP would be needed anyway. Might just add those and wait to see what Dinan offers.

I dont think you need anything else on a stage 2 other than the oil cooler... Its stage 3 that you need to upgrade the the bigger stuff. Price wise it will be around the same at the n54, stage 2 around 1600 to 1800?

Rather have the peace of mind with Warranty ^^^ I am not going to race the car, its good to have the power for once in a blue moon to enjoy it. I dont track it either but might go with buddies to for fun once a year. Why would anyone need meth kit if they are not racing? I live in VA, there are more cops here than donut shops can accomodate :-) I have heard it all, Dinan sucks and it doesnt deliver enough power... Well your meth, Jb4 sure dont offer peace of mind warranty wise either.

The hard part about flash tunes is the vulnerability to DME updates. I've had several Dinan cars we had to remove software from because the new BMW DME software made it act funny, or useless, or cause other warning lights to come on. Then it's the waiting game for Dinan to catch up.

Dinan and BMW are *NOT* a team as a lot of customers may think. Now that BMW has it's own Performance line (especially the software), Dinan is competition.

And yes, Dinan software ABSOLUTELY voids your BMW warranty for anything that can be proven to be caused by the non-bmw software. Dinan offers it's *OWN* matched warranty coverage. Ask around at how easy it is to get Dinan to cover repairs and you might be surprised.

From Dinan Warranty:

I am bumping this for anyone interested... Per Dinan the mods will be released in a few weeks and pricing will be the same as n54. On the N55 the specifications are going to be a bit lower than N54. The N54 is at 380 hp and 420 lbs of torque on stage 2, the N55 will be less due to the turbo... Even though it's one large turbo, it's smaller than two combined. I wonder how much truth there is about this, I wonder what Cobbs numbers will look compared to Dinan stage 2.

Got an email from COBB today indicating just that they are working on something for our N55s, but no expected release date yet. Stopped by BMW NW tonight and they said Dinan should be out next week.

It's been cracked basically.. WE all know it might break 400 whp with fbo and meth with a rsi downpipe/mid pipe. Our turbo is so small, that is all it is capable of.

hmm this will be interesting.....Dinan WILL VOID warranty ? Hmm funny, I had so much sh*t replacd on my previous 335i under CPO.

What make this even more funny is that Steve Dinan himself authorized Stage 3 tune, FMIC and FFE on my 335is which is the very first 335is to have S3 before it was even marketed. I was the test dummy put it that way.

Here is a suggestion....when you have issues with your car just make sure to take it to a BMW dealer that is an authorized Dinan dealer and you will be fine so long as you dont get caught with non-Dinan mods.

The above quote is for both the new car warranty and CPOed cars

If you take you car into a BMW dealer that has no dealings with Dinan then the Dinan hatred will prevail and you will be shooting yourself in the foot.
