JB3 stage 1

Love the jb3! I am having some problems with actually putting the power to the ground, it takes some finessing on the throttle to keep the stability out of the way. Other than that, flooring the car around 3k in 2nd gear reminds me of my e46 m3s top end power...
For those of you with jb3 and can tool, do you have to leave the can tool connected to the car for the boost gauge and shift lights to work properly? as soon as i unplug it, it goes back to regular settings... and if i leave it constantly plugged in it drains my battery till the next morning and i get warning messages for devices draining too much power from the car... If there is a way to save options permanently without using the tool that would be far more convenient... any ideas?
