1M Akrapovic install
The long awaited Akrapovic Evolution Titanium exhaust has finally landed for the BMW 1M. SouthernBM was on the original allocation for the first production run of them a while back and the first one sold in Australia went on Diane’s 1M.
The initial reaction to any product is when you open the box to view the product. Akrapovic really have done a great job with this. The box has an inner box, each side has a foam lining and the components are individually wrapped in several layers of material ensuring nothing gets damaged during transit. We removed the stock exhaust system from the car and compared the differences. The front pipes are 60mm in stock form and the Akrapovic is 66mm. The pipe work to the rear muffler is 75mm stock and 80mm on the Akrapovic. The Akrapovic does not run mid cats but does not require a tune when installed. However on this occasion we installed the ESS Tuning direct flash on this car. The Titanium exhaust is a lot lighter than the standard system as you would expect. (I will be weighing the stock system soon) It is beautiful to look at and you can’t help but admire the workmanship that has gone into building the exhaust. The Akrapovic Evolution Titanium exhaust system we installed was with the Carbon tip option. You can choose either carbon tips or titanium tips. Other options include a butterfly valve in the exhaust and downpipes (not shown) The Exhaust installs easily enough and fits perfectly as you would expect from such a high end product. Here are a few images of the stock exhaust system It does sound amazing when your driving around at low speed but you can’t help but crack open the throttle and listen to it with the windows down, it just gets better. The tone was still changing as i was driving around yesterday as it was still carbonising up, but as Diane drove off this morning i couldn’t help but smile at the crackle on the over run of the engine. It will be interesting to hear feedback how the tone changes by the time they get back home interstate. We had a lot of fun on the install day, we have many professional images and videos were taken, they will be released when they have been edited. These images above were taken by myself and are nowhere near the quality of the other guys taking photos, but i think this gives you a good over view of the Akrapovic Titanium Evolution Exhaust for the 1M-ENJOY More images HERE |

We did order it, but it didn't come with the first Akrapovic Production order run. It has been sent seperately and can be installed later, and will be.
We have done a professional video and i will post it when it it's done, really looking forward to seeing how the video turns out |

The 7 hour drive back home after the fitting of the AKRA was great, I tailed the 1M with both windows down just to hear the syatem. As for the butterfly, the cars' owner, Mrs Alpine, doesn't seemed phased, in fact LOVES the burble and the, excuse me, farting noises that happen under deceleration. |
