My dealer now says buy a 325 not a 330?

So I am working with my dealer to finalize my car. He went yesterday to the BMW NA ride and drive event at some track. He raced 325's and 330's for time and he says he does not think buying a 330 is worth the extra cash. He and all the other dealers were amazed by the car's handling. I have never even considered a 325 before today. Will still probably go with the 330 for the wheels and stereo.

Iin an autocross, 90% is the driver and the rest is the car. If they did straight drag, i think it just be like 1-2 car lengths away from each other. It really is the same car almost just one has more hp than the other. If it worth say 3 car lengths for the 330, it pretty much up to the driver.

BMW Dealers sell far more 325s...but the wheel choices on the 325 suck! The logic 7 is NOT worth upgrading to a 330...the wheels really aren't either. Oh well...I'd take either.

325 or 330

I have also been battling with myself on deciding between the 330 and the 325. I test drove the 330, and I was satisfied with the overall performance. The lights, chrome trim, and rims, definately make it a better looking car than the 325. I think even if you just go with a base model 330, you would be more satisfied than a 325 with options. I am going to be 30 next week, and I hope to order my 330, in Silver before Friday.

My advice is to test drive both. There is not as much difference between the two models as you might expect simply by reading. Be particularly sure to compare a 325 and 330 with the same configuration of transmission and suspension. Here's a thread that includes my thoughts from a road test and others on the comparison between the two:

I was in love with the 162'son the 330 ZSP, but it made so much sense going for the 325i cos I wasn't interested in logic7 and I wanted 17in wheels with the sport package.

But I have to say; now that I have spend a good 48 hrs with my E90, I absolutely love the 161's. Its looks awesome when seen in person.

Dont do it for the wheels and stereo..You will pay extra for the 162's for either car, and the stereo isnt worth the extra cash..Just get the 325 and pay the extra for the wheels, and upgrade the stereo later...

Today is the day!

Well today is the day! Today is my B-day and I am going to order my car at 5pm. I am still undecided about either going with the 325 or 330. I am getting Titanium Silver for sure. I am getting base model, no options if I go with the 330. And if I get the 325, I am only getting the Xenon Lights option added. $6k - Argggggggghhhhhhhhh! This decision is stressing me out. I like some of the 330 features but not all. So what do you all really think. It looks like I wil be getting $1500 off on the car.

HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Thanks!

The 330 isn't that much faster than the 325. The options ARE worth it! Get a 325 loaded over a base 330, IMO.

Happy birthday Mike and wow what a present to get on your birthday! This is really a very subjective question... did you drive both the 325 and 330? For some the power difference is worth the price difference, for some it isn't. Aside from the power difference, if you don't like some of 330i standard options, then consider the 325i where you can add the actual options you like and it'll still be cheaper than the 330i base. How come ure only adding xenons to a 325? What bout sports package? to me that's a must.

Mike,

Are you getting the manual or step? If you are getting step I would go with the 330. I don't think you would miss the extra power the 330 has quite as much with the manual.

Definitely get the SP if you go with the 325 so you at least get 17" rims.

Get the 330i. It is funny, people never regret moving up, they do regret... later on...moving down. In my world, the angel eyes alone are worth the price. Come on...go for it.
