Any Recommended Window Tint Installers in Miami?
Thread title is self-explanatory. I'm particularly interested in how the installers deal with the dot matrix on the rear window. Anyone know of any installers in the Miami area, West Kendall preferably, that do a good job getting window tint over the dot matrix and having it hold up after time? Close-up pics would be greatly appreciated also. Thank you!

I went to Senor Stereo in Pembroke Pines. They did a pretty good job. Installed the legal tint. At first it comes out with a few bubbles but as time goes by it fixes itself up and everything ends up even. Its Solar Guard Tint and it gives a lifetime guarantee. I believe they have a location in Miami aroung the Bird Rd area.

I got mine done at Senor Stereo on Bird Road and they did a great job. No complaints here.

Okay, I went back to Solar Tint this Saturday and they told me what I thought they would. There isn't much I can do with the dot matrix in the back window its all luck of the draw how the tint will dry on the dots. I could use glue but he says it never comes out right or cut out the area and use black vinyl but he mentioned that if I wanted to then remove it, the window would be destroyed having to replace it.
They are nice people there but I don't know what to think I see some cars looking worse then mine and others with a smooth 2 tone line (what I was willing to live with) He ended up giving me the applicator tool they use to temporary force the tint to stick again but this will only hold days. I'm still hoping the jagged edges smooth out and form a smooth line. Sorry for the dirty picture and glare. The circle on the right shows the jagged edge the left is a smooth line. |

DOT MATRIX; a real pain (but there are three primary solutions)
Dot Matrix is essentially an enamel-based paint applied to the interior of glass. It’s done for appearance reasons as well as to protect gasket sealer materials from being destroyed from direct sunlight. It’s often irregular, so preparation is necessary in some cases. When I was director of training at the Centre de Formations located in Paris (many years ago) we were training one of the largest European tinting franchises of that time. I was responsible to teach installers this & other techniques but it’s quite difficult & can be dangerous to the car if not done correctly. There are a few methods to deal with sticking film to this… however because the dots are literally raised off the surface of the glass it is quite difficult to make film stick to both the dots & glass simultaneously. There are three primary techniques to make film adhere & stick to the dot matrix… however since I’m one of very few who knows the way to do it (& have practiced it for years) then I’m not going to tell you guys online. Instead, anyone interested in having us install film on his or her car (in Florida or the Caribbean) then you will soon see us opening for business soon in the Miami/Ft. Lauderdale/Palm Beach areas. Please send me a private message for appointment only… or if you want to talk about it then I can call you on the phone to discuss (but not to discuss the techniques itself as I won’t tell you over the phone). If you’re a shop looking to learn how to make film stick 100% to the dot matrix… then as a Master Trainer I do offer classes. The fee is roughly $1000 per day (about a 7-hour work day) but you will walk away a winner battling Dot Matrix! Our techniques are guaranteed to work; some conditions apply. Training will only be offered to certified tint shops only (licensed businesses with good standing). |

I know this is unrelated but knowing people use the search feature, I wanted to make sure everyone had fair warning on using this particular comapny... Here's my experience with them and the BS stress I went through:
Have used this shop in the past as they employed a guy I knew back when Sound advice was into mobile electronics and was always treated fairly by him. Although that guy was no longer employed there, I thought it would be ok to use them again. WHAT A MISTAKE! I needed to swap a simple sound system (2 amps, 1 sub box that they made for me previously) from one car to a new car (same exact car model, just an 2009 instead of an 2008). I supplied all of the components except for a beauty board that was added and an RCA cable that needed to be replaced (which they claimed was defective - more on this later). When I returned to pick up the car, they had added $200 for "custom crossovers". The sales guy said someone should have called me to get it approved but no one ever called for approval. When I asked why I didn't need them before and why they were so expensive, they reduced the price of the crossovers to $100. Seemed shady but (mistake #2), I didn't want to continue arguing and the car (trunk paneling) was already put back together, so I paid the $500+ bill (Most quality shops charge $50-$75 per amp install - I had 2 plus $75 for cable & beauty board). Fast forward several months when I needed to remove the entire system from the car only to find what they called "custom crossovers" where two $3 in-line resistors. I thought perhaps I wasn't finding the crossovers they made for my car so i returned to the store to ask where they might be. He literally told me that a "Doctor charges $150 to look in your mouth" and the $100 was basically the value they put on those $3 resistors. We exchanged some words before I decided to use the power of the internet to warn other about these PRICE GOUGING THIEVES and just walked out before I lost my composure. I did not even get into the RCA cable that was never replaced as I found the same one they installed in the previous car that had my hand markings on it. There are plenty of other decent company's out there that do just as good of a job and don't try to rape you every chance they get like these guys. They also have more negative/ similar reviews on-line from different people with the same type of BS, bait & switch type experience. Seems like other locations have better business practices but the North Miami (163rd St) should be avoided like the plague!
