RIP SAAB
Heard on the radio this morning that SAAB have filed for bankruptcy. The expert on the radio seemed to think this was well and truly the end of SAAB.
A bit sad really as I remember them being well regarded in the 80s and I always quite liked the 93t aero of the 90s. I remember Clarkson said the high output version could do 70 - 100 quicker than a lambo. The latest offerings have been crap though so I guess that's what's killed them. |

They have been pretty close to being bankrupt on several occasions and all life lines have failed, sounds like the final nail this time.

Does this affect Koenigsegg? - did they not jump into bed with them, financially speaking?

GM wont sell Saab to the chinese as they fear their intellectual property getting into their hands ...
Maybe they fear the chinese consortium building a far superior product to them at a fraction of the price. Shame to see the brand die ... latest 9-5 looks gorgeous.

Something should have been done a long time ago. I feel like they had all of the 2000s to clean up their image in regards to reliability in their electrical system and interior/exterior look. Honestly...I blame whoever was heading up the SAAB brand because they did a horrible job.

I read a while back that the deal with the Chinese relied on them being able to deliver a number of cars on signing but because they can't pay any employees or suppliers they are unable to make any cars.

A real shame as they produced some fantastic if flawed cars. Often describe as "the thinking man's BMW" Not convinced myself having owned one but it did go very well.
