Help, fault codes out of nowhere

Hey guys, need some help, got a 2011 e92 335xi no performance mods done except jb4, today got a Service Engine Soon light on my dash, read the codes and it told me that there are 3 codes...2C90...28A0...316

2C90 - ????
28A0 - output gas circuit switch - what the hell dors this mean and why do i have it
316 - ???? I thought codes have to be 4 digits. I checked multiple times, it is 316 and the flashes 4 times to say its the end.

All of this dtarted an hour ago, i chrcked codes a week ago on steering wheel for shits and giggles and system showed me 0 codes, and now 3....Wtf? Fml!

Please help someone

Garage List
2C90 - Blow off valve, mechanics: Jammed closed
28A0 - Throttle-valve angle - intake mainfold pressure correlation; limit exceeded

28A0 is a tuner code and should be ignored. 2C90 .... not 100% sure on that one but it's not serious. Basically sounds like something that should be cleared.

And about the 316 one - yes they are four digits - it's possible one of the numbers is repeated. Or it's 0316: Ambient pressure sensor, plausibility; pressure too high

I'm thinking your JB is not auto-clearing codes or one of the JB's connections is loose. Where did you get it installed?

I had a buddy of mine install JB3 and i vonverted it to a jb4 myself. Which connection might be loose? The JB3 clips that connect to stock, or JB4 that connect inside DME box?

If the speedo stays on a number twice as long then that digit is repeated. Maybe your code is 3166, "Tank safety valve: malfunction", which is a gas tank ventilation issue you'd go in to the dealer for. The other two codes are just the tuner codes you ignore.

Should have just bought a jb4 instead of upgrading an old unit.

So i cleard the codes and 3166 was gone but the other two still were there, but i turned off autoclear around 2 months ago, and Service Engine Soon wasnt on before but today came on again, only the other 2 codes are present which acoording to Mike are regular tuner codes, but why does my light come on now to Service Engine Soon but before it never did?

Once you resolve the actual code you would need to turn auto clear back on to handle those passive tuner codes.

Well the 3166 code went away only the 2C90 and 28A0, are both of the tuner codes? But how will i know if there will be an important code that needs to be handled if something were to present itself in the future?

How did you know this time? You got a SES light, LOL.

lol no shit =P

but i did not have auto clear on....

basically i turned off autoclear about 2 months ago or so. no SES light or anything until Friday. Friday the light came on and i checked for codes through steering wheel, it told me i had those 3 codes above. as soon as i turned off the car for about 2 hours, and came back, the light disappeared but the 3 codes still stayed (because i did not clear them manually), then i cleared the codes to make sure which codes come back. Only the first 2 came back, not the 3166 code, but the SES light still comes on.

My question is, why? I had autoclear OFF for a while, and never had SES light until 3166 came on, but now its cleared, but the SES light still comes on when I have these 2 tuner codes but didnt before?

Auto clear handles certain passive codes. When a real / important code comes up you still get the SES light and check engine light. If you leave auto clear off you'll eventually get SES lights from the tuner codes as well.
