JB4 and DPs - Will I get a CEL when I pull the JB4 for dealer work?
I'm really trying to figure out what to do as far as tuning and keep coming up with little questions here and there.
If I go with JB4 and add DPs so I can run anything other than Map1, what's to prevent a CEL when I pull the JB4 before hitting the dealership? If it wont throw a code, then they'd probably never notice the DPs for basic service. But if the CEL is glowing at them to read, then it's pretty obvious. Is there a work-around for this? |

IMHO, youre much better off letting them see the cel and telling them to ignore the cel an thats its due to a catless downpipe then to go into service with a jb4...

I know they'll see the DP if they look, but they wouldn't necessarily look for every service appointment. So, why give them a reason to look and make a note to the file? Adding a tune and changing the DP doesn't mean that every drivetrain/exhaust issue was because of my modifications (doesn't mean it's not either), so why give them more reasons to fight a warranty claim. They're in business to turn a profit. And, I know full well about paying to play with everything. That doesn't mean I want to give them cards to stack against me should something go wrong.

I had the catless DP installed, took about 50 miles before I got a light.
I have the BMS CAN Tool hooked up to my ODBC port auto-clearing the code. You could get one of those and just unplug it when you get to the dealer, if you're that worried. The JB4 has the functionality of the CAN Tool built-in.

50 miles would be good. The problem with the last part of your post is that the hole reason the coputer would throw the code is because the JB4 would be removed from the car before it gets to the dealer.

Installed my jb4, always drove on map 0, then after months! Yes, months the cel came on. I deleted the code and it would usually go away for a while but then after a couple months I would delete the code in the morning, for instance, then it would come on again in the afternoon. I then researched and found that our subaru friends have had similar issues. So, I put it on map 2 at all times and now never get a cel!! Also the car doesn't smell as bad because of the catless dps and I get better mileage. So, try that! But when you go in put map on 0, and delete all codes just in case

Yeah I'm just saying - if you took the JB4 out, you'd have no way to clear a code from the catless DP assuming one pops up. BMS CAN Tool just plugs into the ODBC and auto-clears same as the JB4. Just leave it in until you get to the dealer and you'll be assured there are no codes period!
