Recommend me a Honeymoon.....

Well D-Day's rapidly approaching so I better get the wheels in motion and get a honeymoon booked!
Itineray-do absolutely sod all for 10 days surrounded by turquoise waters whilst drinking and eating too much!

Mauritius? Carribbean? Where's everyone been? And who did you book it with? I went to Vegas last year and was more than happy with Expedia to be fair.

I'd go with a really good operator like Virgin and head for somewhere like Mexico.

That way, you know premium alcohols etc will be free/inclusive and you won't have the hassle of 'upgrading' etc.

Enjoy and congrats.

I would say depending on budget its got to be Kuredu island in Maldives. All inc with all vodka you can drink amazing food and you can do sod all or go diving, golf, boating etc.

Amazing 2 weeks

We ended up going with Thompson privilege or something like as they were the cheapest for our trip we went in 2010

Our Honeymoon :

3 nights in Las Vegas
14 Nights in Maui, Hawaii
4 nights in San Francesco

Maui is absolutely amazing I dream of being back in Maui on a daily basis.

As others have said, depends on budget.
But I would go to the Dina Robin or Paradis in Mauritius.

Mine was bloody similar mate, if a little shorter, 2 nights New York, 7 nights Kauai - Hawaii, 2 nights Las Vegas. Bloody brilliant all round. Didn't want two weeks on a beach, so flanked a week on the beach with two 'city' breaks, and broke up the journey nicely too.

I'd pick somewhere like southern Vietnam or the Philippines or Bali.

There tends to be a bit more silt in the water so it isn't usually as 100% torquise as in some other places, but the tourist infrastructure is good, locals friendly and stuff is cheap. And there are hotels of all standards and budgets.

Fiji or the Maldives. Mexico is ok but even in 5 star resorts the staff have been none to help themselves to your belongings...

My mate went to Bora Bora and stayed in something like this over the water - glass sections in the floor so you can see the fish swimming under. Staggering destination (though took a while to get there with a variety of different transportation).

+1 on Bora Bora, its on my to do list (not cheap to go there mind!)

Have been to Mexico 5 times now and it is brilliant as an AI holiday. You do get a lot of Yanks there though and they can become quite overbearing.

All really depends on your budget etc etc.

We went to Dubai and Mauritius for ours an it was incredible.

My folks are from mauritius.... so kind of biased but its an amazing little place - but bloody pricey to get to!! But there is a LOT to do if you do get bored with white sand and blue seas!

We went to pangkor laut for out honeymoon - was awesome!

(BTW... no such thing as a private beach in mauritius the government said that all beaches are public ... though the hotels try and suggest otherwise as they usually spend a small fortune cleaning 'their' sections!)

Just a thought - if u collect tesco vouchers - you can swap them for 4 x value on virgin holidays i think?? Might help you save a few quid, or go somewhere nicer for the same money.

I went to Sri Lanka for my Honeymoon - and it was brilliant.

Many people thought it was a strange choice - but it's it's got lovely beaches, resorts and weather. What makes it even better are the people- they're very helpful and generous.

oh...and the food is amazing!

Spent two weeks in Bora Bora it's a lovely place but not much different to the Maldives. Very expensive for everything, Weetabix is £5 a box. Breakfast in the hotel was £30 each, hence the Weetabix. Most of the restaurants were fine dining and about £100 a night for 2 courses with wine.

One major bonus...... There are very few Brits!

Avoid Kuredu as mentioned by Magic as its too big, has a few hundred bungalows. Try Komandoo Island in the Maldives as its a lot smaller and more exclusive. Make sure you are All Inclusive if possible in the Maldives as you can spend the cost of the holiday on drinks and meals easily.
