Last Cotswold meet killed my Porsche Turbo!!
I hope you enjoyed riding shotgun in my car Will at our recent Cotswold meet as I think that day killed the engine in my 924 turbo. Compression is down on cylinder 4, oil is fouling the plug and causing a misfire. A known weak point is an over heating 4th cylinder leading to broken piston rings or worse, a holed piston. These are now longer available from Porsche and will cost circa £200 each to make, plus £200 for a piston ring set, £200 for head/engine gasket set, £100 for new head bolts plus and machining etc. Engine builder in Stroud is quoting up to £3k if we need to replace/remake key components. I am now too scared to call engine shop for a price!!
Ah well, at least I can just look at it stationary with the Fuchs I stuck on after the meet    |
