The best way to ask about pricing on forums is relative to invoice price. For e.g. I got a deal at $100 over invoice, etc... Since the manf pricing is non-negotiable, the only thing that depends on the dealer is how much excess do they charge. Note that invoice pricing is not what dealer pays to BMW. They pay much less... Also please include "documentation" fees and other garbage fees that dealers tend to attach to your PO. This varies from dealer to dealer.

@90degreeman problem is, it is hard to get the invoice price for 2012 BMW 3 series from any of the websites (yahoo/edmunds/msn). I am not able to figure out the invoice price. Thank you for the pointer though. I will try to find in this forum if anybody has the invoice pricing listed.

Not a good sign for resale if youre getting invoice pricing before they even hit the lots.

in the past, BMWs have been known to give very little discount on hot new models which is one reason their resale stays strong. If some dealers are already selling at invoice pricing while the car is hot, it will be no different than a GM, Dodge, Ford, etc when it comes time to sell...

when dealers start discounting from MSRP across the board it leads to lower resale. it doesnt make sense that residuals are so high though and you got invoice pricing so early. if you happen to have gotten a special deal that most people cant get (employee, military, family connection, etc) then that makes sense but to be an average buyer off the street and get a new model at invoice before it even hits the lot makes we worry about the values in the future.

I guess it makes sense. I am a hard negotiator and I bugged the dealer so much that he handed my case over to another salesman. I got $500 over invoice for ED on a 335i.

No, the local dealer told me that that's all they are going to get if you want to buy a F30 in February (on the launch date, 11th feb), you're gonna have to pay a LOT. Btw, why would you just want to buy it off the lot? IMHO, the sweet wait and anticipation is part of the fun and moreover, you get what you exactly want on a custom order.
Justin - I sent you a PM, do you check it? lol |
