Gravel
Anyone idiotic enough to drive theirs on this yet? I was coming home from my sons hockey game yesterday and purposely picked a route that was paved, and well, it wasn't. All other routes with less than a 100 km detour were gravel. It sucked. The fastest I did was 40 kph. Paint inspection after the fact revealed one rock chip near the rear wheel arch.

Pretty much unavoidable up here. You learn to ignore your OCD tendencies and accept a few paint chips. I've already got 1 or 2 on the 1M (chips seem very conspicuous on the VO).
It's not all bad. I love sliding around gravel corners WRC-style in my 335x. Probably won't be doing that with the 1M though. |

Sh!t happens. They're still building the last couple of homes in our neighborhood, and our new house has a ton of gravel there too. Learned quickly to take the 'Zuk instead of the 1M. But one little ding is no biggie. Won't stop me from enjoying it!

I did a 3000km road trip with my 1m last summer and at some point I almost had to do offroad. I use to keep my speed below 30km/h and did avoid any damages. The worst thing I got was a large pothole fill with water I almost that did it did destroy my tires but the car is strong.

Would I be correct in thinking that the front lip on the 1M is not removable and requires the removal of the whole bumper? Had a minor run in with a concrete parking stop, next to no damage except 2 pen-tip sized marks, but I'm obsessive...
Any recommendations? Do folks clear-bra their front lips or just don't worry about it since you can't see the underside? |

It is really not the end of the world. I took a few pictures at night on a gravel road out to a friends farm, but that was intentional. I'll post them one of these days.

It becomes a big deal when you are following a car or several. We went for a trip to Skyline mountains and there were some stone/gravel slides that damaged every car even at 20mph and 30ft apart after we slowed down. We all got chips on the bumpers, headlights, hoods, and rear panels. It all happened in just 5 minutes. Wish I could go back in time.

I was rather dismayed when my route up to the Stelvio Pass turned to gravel.... it was my third day in Europe with the car... but then I realized..... this thing is meant to be driven!... and I am on the Stelvio Pass! and I kept on driving...
