335d fuel pump audible?

'11 335d, ~2k miles on it. Can you guys hear your fuel pump (albeit just barely) if you're at idle and the stereo isn't on? This may well be normal with a hpfp, so pardon the newbie question if so.

I did try to search and didn't find anything FWIW.

How do you know it's your fuel pump you're hearing? Can you describe the sound?

Good question, guess I'm assuming. I have friends with very high hp cars that have large aftermarket (and noisy) fuel pumps, and this is a similar noise from a pitch perspective, though not nearly as loud. It sounds like it's coming from the rear of the vehicle (noise seems to emanate from the inside, windows all up), with a continuous, relatively high pitch. It's not very loud at all, if the radio is on at any volume I don't hear it, but I'm in that phase with a new vehicle where I'm still sensitive to all the sights, sounds, etc.

Are you talking about the electric pumps in the cell or the mechanical pump under the hood?

Either way I wouldn't be so sure it's the fuel pump you are hearing. There are quite a few cooling fans for every thing from control modules to the ECU in these cars that you may be hearing.

The noise comes from the rear of the car. I'm probably just being a hypersensitive newbie about it. It's an extremely faint sound.

If I recall correctly there is a fan back there to cool the audio amp as well. Might just be an L7 item, not sure.
