E9x tour of Idaho
Post pictures of your E90/E91/E92/E93 in scenic places around Idaho. Share information about the location and interesting photos even if they do not include your E9x.

Here is a picture of my E92 taken 5/27/2007 at Craters of the Moon National Monument and Preserve. This was in front of the Spatter Cones and Big Craters Area. These are miniature volcanoes.

The weather is great in Idaho. There is a lot of wilderness to see. Crime is low. It's a decent place to raise kids. |

Here is the brochure they give you at the gate to the Craters of the Moon National Monument and Preserve in exchange for your $8.00. It is a one week pass. They are open 24 hours a day and have camp sites available.

Here is a photo of the walk up the slope of Inferno Cone at Craters of the Moon National Monument and Preserve. It takes maybe 10 minutes to reach the top at 6181 ft (1884 m) elevation.
Here's a picture Tracie took of me goofing around while standing on the rim of the crater. She was standing in the middle of the crater (it is filled with pumice stone). From on top the volcano there is a 360 degree view. It's very windy. For the view it would be a great spot to have a picnic lunch.

On the trail (seen at the left of the picture) coming back from Dewdrop Cave at Craters of the Moon National Monument and Preserve I shot this picture. The lava flow goes on for a very long way in all directions. There are caves here that spelunkers might find interesting.

I took an afternoon drive to Bogus Basin Ski Resort. It's just a little North of Boise.
Of course there is no snow at this time of the year. It was a nice day at about 70 degrees on the mountain. The drive is a very curvy road with a posted speed recommendation of 20 mph and 25 mph much of the way. Since it is so close, it doesn't take long to get there whether driving at the limit or over. At about halfway there I stopped to shoot some photos where there is a valley view with downtown Boise. I guess that in these pictures I wasn't trying to show the city. |

Most of my photos today were shot with my film camera at the highest drive-to point. Since I didn't finish shooting the roll, those pictures will have to wait on another photo shoot and then processing.
On the way down the mountain I shot another picture with my kid's camera. |

We spent Saturday night and today at Swan Falls Dam on the Snake River. I'll post some pictures and panoramas one of these days soon.
This is the sign you see at the top of the canyon just before the descent. |

Swan Falls Dam
Descending into the Snake River Canyon to Swan Falls Dam.
Information at the dam. Arrived and parked. The view from the bank. 360 degree panorama from the road. Click on the panorama to see the full-size image. Some kind of olive tree. Spending the night.

It was a hot 95 degrees at Swan Falls. Isn't it 110 degrees in Tempe today? I see you show your location as both Tempe and Vancouver. I would guess it's better to be in Vancouver, WA in the summer.

I have a road trip to Sandpoint, Idaho planned for a couple weeks from now. I'll probably spend some time at Coeur d'Alene as well. More Idaho pictures to come.
And more Boise, Idaho pictures when I have a chance to post them. I went to Table Rock for a photoshoot while I was looking for a good place to watch the fireworks tomorrow night. |

Here are a couple pictures at the Boise Depot. I'm just trying out my new camera to get some practice before my road trip.
