///M-tuned line
How do you guys feel about this?
http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=640126 I think it's a shame that M will get watered down like that. I can already see a ton of people starting to put ///M badges on their 550's and 535's even and claiming they are real M's.

Huge performance + relatively good fuel economy = frakking awesome!!! That's how I feel.

Exactly my thoughts, 1M and this new M550xd Touring in my garage would be just ideal.
The cars and packaging are fine, just too many M badges all around that is a fact but whoever needs to know will know at the end and the rest does not matter. You think people on the street know what I am driving right now? It is 1/1000 who has an idea anyway. |

Doesn't bother me at all, people still buy Audi RS and S models, and Audi sells alot of S-Line cars.

Since you guys are so easy going about watering down the brand, why doesn't BMW just put an M on everything?

Same reason Chevy doesn't put SS on all their cars, or Chrysler/Fiat doesn't put SRT on all theirs.

It doesn't bother me either. The true enthusiasts can tell a true M car from a car with an M badge, and the non-enthusiasts don't care/matter

+1 I'm fine with offering it as a optional package, but to put a M badge on the trunk is going a little too far.

The cars are all diesel x-drive cars. They call them M-Performance. For me they look a lot like M cars in the specs... Well close in many ways. Maybe just a way for BMW to not need to take away the "we are never going to build a diesel or x-drive "M" car"... ;-)
The prices are also at "M" level. Diesel, Xdrive and great mileage. With close to M-performance... Love it! Way to go! |

This is 1M performance in a straight line... In a much heavier car... Worthy the "M" on the back? No?

It's interesting that some of the 1M owners now sound exactly like the M3 owners did when the 1M was announced a while back ...
