BMW sales/Service

Arranged to drop my car into Bavarian today, to get some probs looked at & found the guy who booked it in a total twat, of the highest order!
In his ass hole tone of voice...

"We will not deal with your warranty company" - Without even asking who they were & what sort of protection I have..

"We will have the car for a full day" (8.30-5pm) - Without even asking what the problems were!
When I describled the 3 probs, he then goes on to say, "You will be charged for ourselves investigating all three items individually..(Between £200-£300)

Each of the probs sound related to me, steering click while driving (occasionally), whine noise (only noticable at low revs) & ABS fault which popped up twice in the 2 years ive owned it..Surely if they are related it would be one fault one fix?!

"You arent getting a hire car as you didnt purchase the car from ourselves"

He actually had a cheek to say, have a nice day sir at the end..lol

Seriously been treated better in my local garage, Maybe im worng to expect more from them

Vent over..lol - Back to work

Most if not all main dealers will give you the same service in this respect.

If is not a BMW warranty I would expect you pay up front and claim the cost back from your warranty company, pretty normal I would have thought which would include any diag's being run to invesitgate the fault.

As with the hire car you will find all dealers take this line, its extra's like this that you pay for when buying the car from the main dealer. In fact some dealers on the mainland charge a daily rate for their loan cars even if you have purchased your car from them.

I never have any of these issues, but my car has a BMW warranty and was purchased from Bavarian so I wouldn't expect to.

At no stage did I expect him not to charge me for the investigation of the fault, or for the warranty work.. I expected to pay for this myself & claim it back from Car Protect.

I have this same setup with my Golf, & Audi.. My point is it was his attitude.

I did have a courtessy car from them while my car was getting serviced previously.. I wasnt even bothered about that either, as my engineer was outside the door waiting on me!

I'd be worried about the clicking.

Does it tend to click with sharp side to side movements?

No just a light click, low noise & at random times. Its always done it (well since I owned it).
Apparently its ready for collection, and will be booked in.. I will let post with what they think the problem is. hope its not expensive & is covered under warranty.

Turns out the clicking was - "Replacement lower steering Spindle required"

Whine noise - "Alrernator & drive belt" - Nothing wrong with the alternator just a whine noise coming from it, which sounds at low revs, annoying for me only! - Not many can hear it..I scratched my head at this for months, as did my local garage.

The other issue was the DSC warning due to 3rd party rear pads being installed. - I got my local garage to install rear pads in August.

£130 for diagnosis, which im fine with - Now I know what the problems are & can be sorted for £1100

Cheers

So non BMW rear pads caused an issue? I haven't heard anything before like that, thought so long as they were decent quality they would be ok.

They have been fine from August, thats the annoying part. Only twice flagging up an error about DSC - The guy said if the DSC system goes the lights on dash will not go away/Computer will flag a problem. My system was clear so this is all he could point it out to be.
I will see how it goes, but if it aint broke he cant fix it - Which is what his reply was. - And I am agreeing!..lol
