The spare is the doughnut for the non M e46. I have ons left over from my e46 M3 and just for curiosity sake tried it. It would not clear the brakes. Too bad. If I plan to go to some sparkly populated place I plan to take one of my snow tires as a spare. Since I am a widow and travel alone I can just take less shoes

Thanks for that - so the 17" definitely does not fit then. Someone needs to tell BMW this because they are still recommending it as an accessory for the 1M!

Holly - what do you take along as a jack and jack pads to deal with a wheel/tire issue when you might need to install the winter tire "spare"?

Since I track & autox my car, I have a longacre aluminum racing jack that I use and can throw in the trunk. Another option would to call BMW assist or AAA to actually change the wheel. If it were bad weather and I was dressed up I seriously would consider that.
