US 1M and the 1 Series gone? Food for thought
From what I am reading lately from several sources it sounds as though the 1 Series is going away from the US Market.
We all know the 1M is gone, no 2012 model, but it is now sounding as though the 1 series will be going away as well. Since the US won't be getting the 3 or 5 door 1er's and rumor has it that the 1er Coupes will be re-badged 2er's it is looking more like we have seen the last of the 1's The 128i, 135i is still listed on the BMW USA configuration web site but for how long?

Yes, we may get the X1 but the new generation 1 series is not coming over to the US (at least not this year I guess they could change their mind later).

E82/E88 will be in production until 06/12 and will probably fall off the website in July or August. We'll be getting the X1 this year and a new 1 years next year hopefully. The 1M is dead for the US and we all know

Now the real interesting question (to me at least) is are we going to get the 4-cylinder diesel in the X1 in the US or not? (love my 1M but feel a bit guilty wearing it out commuting to work on the freeway every day, other car (A3) is getting to replacement time now and this is the last year for A3s in the US (same fate as the current 1 series) and I tried a TDI the other day and was completely under-whelmed by it power-wise, the BMW 2 liter diesels I drove in Europe where MUCH better than that old TDI we get in the Golf/A3 here).
Sorry for hi-jacking the thread, but end of 1Ms for the US is nothing new in these forums and has already been discussed to death! |

Yes the X1 Should make it here this year. However it was originally scheduled to be available in the US in Mid 2011, but stronger than projected sales in Europe along with production limits at the Leipzig plant postponed the X1. There won't be a new 1 series next year either. Should be the new re-badged 2 series Coupe's only. BMW won't be bringing any of the new M Line of cars with Diesels to the US either. If BMW makes the equivalent of the M135i it will most likely be sold as the M235i in the US based on the new re-badge.
