Wheel size and under steer questionquestion

Ive got a 2010 335xi m sport e90 and am planning to move to a new set of wheels and tires. I\'m trying to move up to 19s staying as close to the original total diameter as possible. What I\'ve got so far;

Front. 19 x 8 225. 35
Rear. 19 x 9. 255. 30

This is what was recommended to me by a mechanic I trust. The issue I\'m looking at is that the wheels I\'m looking at come a half inch wider on both front and back. I\'m going for a wheel that I like but I don\'t want to limit the performance with a lot of under steer. Half an inch isn\'t much but it will make a difference. Any advice?

Your awd 3-series has plenty of understeer built in from the factory on the stock non-staggered rubber. Increasing the rear contact patch relative to the front without any other changes is going to push the handling bias toward more understeer, no doubt. That said, wider wheels front and rear won't have much of an effect other than slightly stretching tyres but it is still within reasonable limits. Personally, I wouldn't put a staggered setup on an xi but to each his own.

Yeah the sport pack comes staggered with 18s oem, 8 on the front and 8.5 on the rear. Trying to keep the speedo as close to correct as possible too
