New EXTREMEWINTERCONTACT very slippery on dry road

I just replaced my 5 yr old Dunlop sport M3 with Conti EXTREMEWINTERCONTACT last week. And found out that the tire is very noisy and it is very slippery even on dry road! We have very mild winter here in toronto this year. It is just ~0C, but my car became very understeer with the conti. I am having hard time to drive straight above 50mph! After I making a turn, I need to force the steering back to center. The tire shop told me that since my car is lowered for 2", I need to give it some time (at least drive for 500km) for the tire to break in. But I already drove 300km and it doesn't seem any improvement at all! So will there be any chance that it is a defective tire or it is just how bad this tire is?

Many winter tires have a coating on them that needs to be "worn in" for the tire to come into its "primie traction" ... about 500 miles sounds about right... drive a little longer and see if they improve, if not, get blizzaks! I love mine.
