e90 335i rims/tires

hi all, i just picked up a 2009 335i sedan in alpine white stock. I'm new to this whole "modding/aftermarket" thing, i was wondering if anyone could briefly explain what needs to be considered when changing rims (especially to bigger rims).

right now my car has 17" x 8.0" multi spoke alloy wheels (style 284) and
P225/45R17 run-flat all-season tires. i want some 19'' rims but not sure what to get or what would look good (suggestions?). And if i wanted 19'' rims on my car would i need to do anything or do i simply switch out the rims? would getting larger rims mean having to get larger tires as well?
thanks alot.

You will need new tires with the larger wheels. Here is a good place to start. They have a good selection and a bunch of pix to give you and idea of what it will look like on your car.

Lower profile tires are used with larger diameter wheels so that modifications typically are not needed.

when using 19 inch wheels, i belive most people run the following tire setup for the 335i

225/35/19 front , 255/30/19 rear
OR
235/35/19 front, 265/30/19 rear

the difference between the two is simply slightly wider tires with the 2nd option

in terms of wheels, you should be good with 19x8.5 in the front and 19x9.5 in the back
(and transfer over your TPMS sensors from your stock wheels to the new ones)
