335xi E90: Enkei Raijin or VMR V710?

Considering mating one or the other in hyper silver w/18" Michelin Pilot Sport PS2 ZP using a square setup. Any experience or preferences? I'm in the NYC Metro, so strength is an issue. Other mesh recommendations welcome.

Enkei & VMR:

If you're looking for something strong and lightweight, you may also want to check out the Sportline CS.16 CSL style wheels which are rotary forged!

Raijin

The Enkei Raijin wheel should be very durable. From I understand, their "MAT" technology is synonymous with "rotary forging," where the rim is spun rather than cast to both shape and elongate it. I believe VMRs are gravity cast, and AG wheels may be low pressure cast? I called Enkei and they've indicated that the Raijin for BMW fitments will accept the BMW center cap. I'm leaning to the Raijin because of the warranty and benefits associated with the MAT process. Enkei offers it in a darker titanium gray color which Tire Rack can order for you at the same cost as the black and hyper silver ones. Hope that helps.

Raijin

BTW I'm in the same situation as you and have been looking for a strong mesh wheel that can take on Chicago winters (although we've missed most of it this year). If anyone else knows more about the Enkei Raijin I'd be interested to hear more. I haven't been able to find any pics of the wheel mounted on a BMW, and have no idea whether the images for the wheel are for the 8, 8.5 or the 9.5 width.

That's great info! I checked out their site, and did not find exactly what the term meant.

Anyone know if BMW center cpas fit on the Enkei's? They look a lot like the V710's.

NEVERMIND - I see they can in a post above.

Trying to decide between the VMR 710's and Enkei's. Anyone have side profile picture of BMW with Raijin's?

Bump - other opinions of the Raijins?

Anyone know for sure if they are hubcentric and bolt right on as is?

The Raijin 72.6 bore diameter. I would get the Enkei's over the VMR...look at the motorsports legacy. I'd trust them.

I'm looking at the same wheels (in black) as i can no longer find the breyton gts wheels with a 9" rear fitment. I could have sworn they were available last fall but no luck now.

Im in brooklyn and commute to NJ for work and have destroyed 3 breyton gts wheels (Entire chunks of the wheel missing, but still holding air...) I love the way the breytons look on with my 08 E92 in Sparkling graphite. Rajins are the closest i can find to the GTS without looking at replicas or breaking the bank. Im still considering replicas ($550 staggered 8 in front and 9 in back) but hesitant about quality and durability considering what i've done to the breytons.

8 or 8.5 in front with 225/40's?

any recommendations?

Nas

I'd get the Raikin in 18x8 ET32 for the front. Its an ideal fitment with 225/40/18, and also can be used with 235/40/18 if you like to have a bit more rubber to protect the rims.

We have had very good experience and feedback with Enkei. The Raijin is light, hubcentric and a great style as well. Looks like a great wheel choice to me.

in 18" form, the Avant Garde are half an inch narrower than the VMR's. VMR's allow for 235/265 front/rear tires that would look weird on the AG's.
