TPMS Problem
I've had a set of aftermarket rims and Beru TPMS sensors on my car for over a year now. The TPMS had been functioning properly until the past week or so when my car started to display a TPMS warning light.
The tire pressure on all 4 tires is dead-on and attempts to reset the TPMS system result in receiving a "TPMS Inactive" message (non i-Drive car) & consequently the computer will not allow me to reset the system. My best guess at this point is that one of the sensors has failed... If this is the most likely explanation, is there any way for me to figure out WHICH sensor has failed without paying the dealership a $150 diagnostic fee?

see if anybody local has an extra set of wheels with sensors to test. normally in the northern states, it's easy to find others with an extra set of summer tires laying around.

Come to think of it, my oem set still has the sensors on them and presumably, they all still work.
So what would this process consist of? Swapping wheels one by one and attempting to reset the system each time?

I used to get the TPMS inactive error on very cold mornings on my previous BMW. Simple way to figure it out via process of elimination. Borrow a spare wheel and replace yours one at a time until the error goes away. If it doesn't go away it's a receiver, in which case it's time to visit an indy. |

Do what everyone is suggesting. Throw in someone else's wheel and see if you still have any problems. That'll at least tell you if your sensors are the problem or not. Best of luck!
