Carbon wrap or black roof on AW 1M

Hi guys

I'm thinking to wrap my roof glossy black or glossy carbon.
Has someone pictures of an AW 1M with carbon wrap or black roof ?

You think it would look good on my 1M whitout the "shadow line" option?

Thank you!

Best regards,
Flavush

There are 2 cars on here wrapped. Both AW... one has a black top and the other is CF (3M scotchprint).

Lemme see if I can link them both.

I cant find their threads but search these usernames EINSER M (CF) and ///M1 (black)

also note

the old 3M diNOC did not have the gloss of the new 3M scotchprint 1080
however it seems the old diNOC was thicker and also the CF weaves lined up a little better...

this is what the 135 looked like with the 3M dinoc
i now have the 3M scotchprint 1080 on the 1M

Ill agree about the scotchprint being thinner, maybe even too thin

The possibility of a moonroof was excluded to keep a low center of gravity. By adding a CF roof (overlay on the existing roof, instead of replacing it), you get extra weight and a higher center of gravity. With such setup, the only functional aspects I can think of, is maybe some extra isolation + roof protection against hail and scratches.

Lol, I don't think the CF overlay will be adding any weight significant enough to make a difference.
Having said that, weight is weight, and if you're going to do the full carbon roof replacement, might as well just get vinyl; cheaper and lighter.

Do a search with my username and a couple of keywords relating to the CF roof wrap, and a few threads/pics will come up. I have the roof wrapped and have to say as much as I was unsure prior to doing it, I have really fallen in love with it. Have the 3M Scotchprint which has a clear coat so it is essentially semi-glossy. Here is a crappy iPhone pic that doesn't do full justice, but you'll get the idea.

Carbon roof is what most of us wants if it comes standard on a 1M but when it comes to replacing it ... most would worry about installation and since car is still new, it seems like a big project to replace the roof.

I agree and wouldn't even think about it at first but after a few days of careful thoughts and studying the technical side of it, I went for it and am very proud of the finishing, function and look of it. As a matter of fact, the roof in most of the modern cars are technically just a skin of metal, the bodyshell is all reinforced by its A/B/C pillars.

Don't get me wrong, the carbon vinyl is definitely a good take and looks the job but with the widely popular use on MOST of the not so tastefully done cars it kinda make this amazing sticker looks cheap.

It's like the chrome paint, it used to amazed everyone on earth when it first came out on the E46 M3, now it looks kinda dated and a bit too arab.

here're some of the other cars with carbon roof;

I want to wrap my roof as well.

I see a lot of people don't wrap the side line of the roof because of the line where the rail come.

I would like to find instructions on how to remove the it and detailed picture on how it looks if you wrap it as well.

would really appreciate it

I think they look dumb and make the car hotter. If the 1M had a carbon roof option I would get it for performance aspect but paint it to match. Best of luck.

You want opinions? OK.

- Black paint does nothing except stress the AC, by heating up the car, and it looks pointless. Sort of a Continental-style vinyl top, 50 years later.

- A fake "carbon fiber" wrap makes most people think you must be a little dull, as everyone knows it is just bogus stick-on shelf-wrap plastic.

That's my opinion.
