Bridgestone RE970 - snow experience?

Does anyone have experience with the RE970s in the snow? I bought RE970s in September and used them until I put on my Dunlop Runflat M3 winter tires in mid January, two days before our first snow, about 8 inches. I was really glad I had my winter tires on for that snow. Since then we haven't had much snow around Chicago and I really don't enjoy the noise and harshness of the winters. I would like to switch back to the RE970. I would not expect them to be good in 8 inches, but how are they in the 1-4 inches of snow? I have a 328i.
