The car is still in production, until July so no way to be sure about the final number before production comes to an end and some official info announced.

Still in production. There is a new price list on the German website starting March 2012 incl. a 1k Euro increase. No confirmed info (as far as I know) yet when production in Leipzig will come to an end.

Thanks to a network of friends living and working in various European countries and my contacts from Germany as well as from some other dealers I think I have quite reliable information on this and all of them confirm the same thing: that the latest a dealer can receive an order for a new 1M is around early May which is a trustable sign that the world production will end in July 2012 at the latest and there won't be a 2013 model with August and on production for this car for any market.
The OP asked "What is the total number of 1M were built from BMW?" so I thought he meant the total world production and not the quota for a certain market. Otherwise yes, some markets like US already reached their production limit and those numbers are out there since long time, there are some old threads about this subject in this Forum. We will only know the exact world production numbers when it is announced by BMW (or if they announce at all) sometime after July. Or some clever Forum member will figure it out by deciding from VINs etc. |

2700 was the production figure ...until the raving started in May 2011. Around June 2011 info sipped through at dealerships about "minor changes" (http://www.1addicts.com/forums/showthread.php?t=544798). August/September 2011 was a key moment: word from HQ about "September production line updates". And closer to the end of 2011 several got their 1Ms earlier than expected. Signs of an almost certain production increase: manufacturing as much 1Ms at the Leipzig plant as practically possible before the final curtain call mid 2012.
So you may reasonably assume a higher volume output than the initially scheduled 2700 figure during the Spring 2011 - mid 2012 production run. |

I bet it will still be less than 5000! But, yes it will be definitely more than that notorious 2700 number because the production has been prolonged from February/March to June/July. However, this doesn't mean that Leipzig is producing lots and lots of 1Ms to minor global markets, cause the car is very expensive in most those other/secondary markets to be purchased in big numbers (like Australia more than 100K, Turkey more than 138K Euro and just 3 examples sold-no more orders despite the fact that they could, far east the same, just crazy expensive) so it is more like they have a temporary window left open for those countries/markets which are not natural target market for this car anyway. The one big exception is home market, Germany and I don't know how many Germans purchased and how popular is the 1M there, Dackel and others may have a better idea on this. My guess, there won't be more than 4000-4500 1Ms produced at the end. It is just a guess though, we will learn once it's over.

Considering that a total of just 591 1 Ms have been registered in 2011 in Germany I don't think that the German market will increase to a few thousand units. Time will tell...

So in the case of France the total is not really 100 but it will be more. Just USA, Canada and UK seem to be kept out from ordering a new 1M. Anyone knows any other markets which for sure can't receive 1Ms in 2012?

I think he was saying France is indeed xxx/100 but some of those will be model year '12. I could be wrong though.

According to mid 2011 info, allocation to Belgium was finally increased from 41 or 49 to 75 1Ms.
However, another source claims that last Autumn BMW Belux special markets has quoted 214 1Ms (of which 80 had already been delivered until September 2011), with the following breakdown (probably for Belgium + Luxembourg): - AW: 78 (78/214 = 36.45%) - VO: 73 (73/214 = 34.11%) - BSM: 63 (63/214 = 29.44%) Almost tripling the 75 1Ms allocation in only a couple of months seems hard to believe for such a small car market (population of only 11 million people). Later this year we'll know the correct figures, I guess. Managed to identify already 49 Belgian 1Ms (each color virtually 1/3): http://www.1addicts.com/forums/showp...&postcount=232 |
