Problem launching steptronic in 2nd....input needed!!

Ok here's the situation. Just got some drag radials on and decided to go out and practice some 2nd gear launches. When I rev up to 2k and let off the brake and push the throttle all the way to the kickdown point car launches perfect. No wheel spin or anything. The problem is when I get to about 4-4.5k I feel a clunk and it shifts to 3rd gear on it's own. It's not letting me take it all the way to 6k and my foot is to the floor. It doesn't do it in 1st gear and it doesn't do it if I just roll into the throttle. I'm puzzled...this happen to anyone else?

Pretty weird. Could be tranny related?

Weird, 1st gear is known to shift short but never heard of 2nd gear doing it. No tranny error on the dash? Would it be possible to take a video of this happening?

You could reset transmission adaptations by holding the accelerator down all the way for 30 seconds with ignition on, engine off. Worth a shot.

Yes, but check codes, you probably have transmision code a or b which wont throw any warnings, c or d will have lights in in the dash.

I was tinkering around under the hood and found that my blow off valve hose that goes to the intake tube had blown off. I guess I didn't put it on tight enough when I installed the meth elbow I purchased from themyst...took it out for a test drive...problem solved. I don't know if the fsb on the meth kit/jb4 intervened and kicked the meth off and dropped boost to factory levels which caused the tranny to upshift or what but...fixed!

If you are testing, I would love for you to try a few 1st gear launches with the Drag Radials and see how that compares to 2nd gear launches. Most people bypass 1st gear since there is not enough traction to utilize it, but the Drags might make the difference, they have for others: http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=652589
