Interior lighting?
I'm looking to get a pure white interior light but I'm not sure which one to go with... There's a kit from sonic tuning, and there's one from highperformancebulbs.
I was just wondering if you guys have tried out both kits. I don't want any error codes or anything to ruin the original light housing. The one from sonic tuning is cheaper so I might go that route but I just wanna make sure it's a good kit. I drive an 06 e90 330i

I think you will be happy with the HPB.
Some other kits are known to damage the dome housing. The HPB kit that I helped design and test for years is proven and flawless. http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=713322 Some key features: CAD Designed Dome light, flush fitting, error and flicker free. High quality chips, White and bright. Replaces all lights in the interior. The new dome lights also feature special materials to reflect heat. I can go on but no other kit compares and has the same value as the HPB kit. I can say that with confidence and a straight face any day of the week. Here is my car: Shot with Go Pro. |

I just installed the entire HPB interior kit yesterday - those new custom Dome Light Modules are the greatest (no worrying about sticking up circuit board with dbl sided tape)
Everything fits as it should, and the imrovement is excellent. When you install, leave in the std bulb next to the new LED to see the difference All bulbs are solidly made and pack as many SMD that would fit. The tiny little bulbs that go in the rear console on E92's was pretty impressive... With a 50-50 chance of getting each bulb installed with correct polarity - I had a 100% record of installing all of them the wrong way No problems, just pull out, flip around and re-install. I was just suprised that I didn't even accidently install one the right way 1st time I'm sure you could find cheaper LED's - but you get what you pay for in this case

You can either buy the entire kit, or they have a 'build your own' kit where you can choose which lights you want to buy - just pick/choose from the menu...
I already had the trunk led, under door led's & front floor courtesy LED's, so I got the: Upgraded Front/Rear OH Light Modules (2) (most $$) Front/Rear Map Lights (4) E92 Rear Console Courtesy Lights (4) Glovebox Light (1) Vanity Lights (2) Side Marker Lights (2) Total was $112 shipped

To replace both the Dome Light & the Map Lights you need to 1st remove the section of cover that surrounds them. For the dome you then remove the existing bulb, and plug the new LED module in its place. The module housing is shaped to fit in the weird cavity perfectly. When the cover is replaced it ensures that the module won't fall out as it has a translucent cover that goes over all. For the maps, after you remove that cover, you need to also remove the (2) black bezels that go around the bulb so you can get to the bulb. There are (2) tiny tabs that lock into a slot in the housing that you need to carefully pry outward to remove the bezels. It's hard to grab the bulb way down in the cavity, so I carefully used a pr of needle nose pliers with tape on the jaws to pull them out - then the LED's plug right in. Replace the black bezels & the cover & your done! That cover is a beatch to get to snap back on - I found it easier to remove both the entire OH consoles to enable snapping the covers back on. It sounds harder than it actually is. HPB includes detailed instructions and a picture of the bulbs and where they go so there is no guessing...

Intake not in the way on E92 - they have underhood gasketed access panels on top of the light housing directly over the AE bulbs. Still was a bitch though, they don't make those access panels sized for american hands

Again, I'm sorry but this is a one off kit. You dont have access to the components used. You are more then welcome to send me your kit and I'd be happy to shoot comparison pictures for all to see? If it turns out you magically have the same exact components and kit I will gladly pay full price for your kit. There is a reason we dont post our components to the public, and that is so we stay ahead of the competition. That is why we still to date have the highest quality kit.
