Had a nail in mine a while back, how strong are those patches they put in? Are you not supposed to drive as hard with the patches in place? That's what one of my engineering buddies told me, but i wasn't sure.

In relation to all that I also advise never going to one of the 'big box' tire stores to fix a flat or leaking tire. Every single time I've done it they tell me it can't be repaired, the cords are ruined etc, and I HAVE to buy a new tire. Every time I've left there and driven down the street to one of the Mexican tires places. They patch it up, charge me $5-15 cash and I’m on my merry way. The only thing to be careful of is make sure the shop has one of the machines that won’t scratch the outside of the wheel. I always point out to them how the lip of the wheel is perfect and they can’t scratch it. Just make sure he understands what your saying and not agreeing without understanding. Works every time |

Used my mobil to get some air into the tire, drove to the shop to find a huge nail stuck right in the middle. All patched up now and $20 out of pocket not bad at all.

You used the little compressor in the back of the car? I haven't looked at it yet but was under the impression when used it dumped goo into the tire as well. Is this not the case? Or maybe there's a way to or not to add the goo when using the compressor? Glad you got it worked out btw. |
