Programmable Functions List
Being a new Z4 owner of only a week, I've noticed that there is some confusion on the functions that are programmable by the dealer.
So far I only found reference to the turn signal programming (3 flashes for lane change) and the door unlocking sequence, but suspect after doing a little search on the forum that there are more functions that can be tuned by the dealer's service department. Does someone have a concise list handy that can be posted, perhaps as a sticky post, so that current and future Z4 owners can use as a guide when speaking with their respective dealers on this topic? TIA if anyone is able to respond positively to this request.

if you just bought the car shouldn't cost anything but for everyone else, dealer will charge you about an hour worth of labor... rip if you ask me this can be done in like 5minutes.
I did get the locking sequence and light confirmation(alarm activation) for free @ like 50,000 lol

You should get them set for the first time when you buy the car for free. After that it costs about $35 to get them set a different way. That is what the stealership here quoted me anyway.
If they say they can't do something that you think they can tell them to call around and look into it because my dealer just told me they couldn't do something instead of taking the time to figure out how to do it... until I complained anyway, then they were more than helpful.

I just called local dealer in Toronto, looks like it will be 1 hour of labour, which is $120.
I found some Carsoft diagnostics packages for around the same price. Does anyone have experience with Carsoft (version 6.5)? Ebay link I also need 1 master key and 1 valet key, quoted for $248, $69... Is there anyway around this? |

I think I paid $128 US for a new key. Keys have to come from the factory, so you're stuck ordering them through BMW. Another dealer may offer a better price, however.

FWIW: I grew up in Bergen County (right near exit 168 on the Parkway in Hillsdale - maybe 3 miles down Pascack Road from Park Ridge). Haven't lived in the slush in 30 years. Ah nostalgia.

It is in the owners manual, give it a quick read and then take that in and be like... what now. I told them they were wrong and were doing it for free... they agreed with no hesitation... I was surprised.
