F30 335i Brakes, Cluster & Headlights mods in detail

A friend picked up a 335i Sport, black on black with red piping and stitching accents. It was the first F30, and so far still the only F30 I've seen in Brooklyn and I was blown away by it, looks stunning in person.

He dropped it off for tint, but my hands itched and I got down and dirty.

Headlights are still a work in progress, will finish by tomorrow. Brakes are complete, just need to rebleed them, and the cluster was basically a test try, I forgot to change the LED above the gas and temp needles so that area remained red. Only realized it after I installed everything back on

Check out some teaser pics for now.

PS. the headlights are a nightmare to remove !

am not sure what you did with the front brake? you put on Brembos?

am not sure what your intentions are for the headlights?? you removed the clear front cover?? what are you trying to do??
does it mean the headlights unit is pretty much shoot at this point??
you cannot put it back?? it would seem that you destroyed the front cover attachment right?

Nice work on the instrument cluster... I like how it turns out...
how easy is it? is the "before" picture coming from the same car? if so, how come the mileage is different (read lower than in the "after" picture) ?
Very interesting indeed!

I might pass by as C'ptain obvious, but will you put a DYI on the Instrument cluster mod??

The factory brakes are made by brembo. He painted them red and put on the brembo brakes.

I am sure he is blacking out the chrome. I thought about doing this too. can't wait for the results.

The picture of the cluster was taken from the photo's bimmerpost had posted in the past... I just included the picture for comparison.

Correct, brakes are factory brembo painted red with decals..

I'll post pictures of the headlights in the morning.

Those white dials look sweet. Coming from an Audi I actually prefer it. Looks a lot sharper.

So these are the(my) stock brakes, painted in red with a brembo sticker on it? Wow.

But the instrument cluster(I have the same black/black sportline car) what exactly did you do? The inbetween markers etc? I don't actually see it, sorry.

Ah the numbers are in white stupid me.

Anyway: Nice work.Keep us posted please

Cheers

Love the white instrumentcluster, but if you have Lights Package you can choose to have white lights instead of amber.

What consists of the light package? The LED's I replaced were all orange, there weren't any white LED's within the vicinity of the speedo and rpm gauges.

Here's a quick tease.

Is that true for the instrument cluster as well as the ambient lighting? I thought so, but then I'm sure I read a post which implied that whilst the ambient lighting was changeable, the cluster remained orange.

Would be good to know for sure either way.

Ambient LED's change (ceiling, doors, etc), cluster remains orange. At least thats how my wifes 328i is with 1/12 build date.
