I picked up a square set of ARC-8's (18x10 et25) and am now looking for rubber options as the weather is warming. I am planning on running 275/35's and I've read all of the existing threads where we are told the 275's will rub without camber plates etc...

What I've found so far is... RS3/Direzza's in 275 are a no go. Hoosiers are possible with slight rubbing (but cant be driven to/from track).


Is anyone here on stock suspension, running a 275 all around with no issues? I'd prefer the tire be DOT so I don't have to switch them out at the track, but I'd be interested in hearing from anyone running a similar setup.

My goal is to do 2 or 3 track days and a couple of autox's this year. Nothing too crazy. There were a large number of people on the group buy, so I'm sure there is some information out there that would be useful to many.

275/35-18 conti scrubs and hoosiers wont rub...maybe on full steering lock.
275 street tires/other R tires like NT01/R888 might rub in the fronts. The 275 NT01 is a good half inch wider than the conti scrubs.
You could get the 265 RS3.

Will 265 rs3's be stretched on a 10 in wheel?

Here are some pics of the track setup. 265/35/18 Hankook Rs3's all around on 10" Arc-8 et25. I wanted to put a few miles on them before any track duty, and as you can see the fronts noticeably stick out of the fenders. I haven't seen any rubbing at all and overall these tires are super sticky...

yep.. those stick out much like the 275/35 Hoosier/Contis do.
Glad to see they fit all around with no rubbing... I am probably going to go this route also.. except I may got for 285s in the rear ... that would be staggerred tires on 18 x10 wheels all arounf for me... ... but would help with putting the power down for autocross.

I'll be doing the big test on Saturday with 275/35 PSS on all corners w/ARC-8 18x9.5 et22 - hopefully I won't run into any rubbing issues.

How are most of you guys getting your track tires round? Will all 4 fit in the car with the seats down? 2 high, 2 wide?

I went with the Apex 9.5" 265 front, 10.5" 285 back setup. No rubbing, but it's quite close. Hey blotto, I'll be in Toronto in June. Would be interested in checking out your setup if you have a few minutes some afternoon.

All four will fit in the car. One in the trunk along with a jack, small tool box, knee pads, torque wrench, Snap-On cordless impact gun, folding chair and umbrella. Then three can go in the rear seat. I had been putting all three verticle, but I am laying two flat on the seat behind me, and one verticle on the passenger side. I do have very nice tire bags to protect the interior of the car. Yes, I know, "pics please." Next time to load the Hoosiers mounted on the Forgestar wheels, won't be until at least next weekend.

I have 10/18 squared e25 w/Nitto Nt01, however I have camber plates and I am running 2.5 front and 2.0 rear. I bought mine from Apex and I would contact them for their thoughts. If you knock out the crash pins in the front you can get to the 1.6 max and then adjust the rear to 2.0 max it might work. I still recommend contacting Apex.

Does any know if there is a specific TSB from BMW approving knocking out the pins on a E82 1M Coupe? I have an old version that covers and E46.

i can stack all 4 of mine upright (side by side) with the seats down. Free's up the trunk for all the other stuff. But be sure if you do this to go to Home Deport or something and get one of those ratchet straps with hooks at each end. Us the hook mounts in the trunk and then run the strap thru the wheels and then secure the other hook...ratchet it in tight. You dont want 4 wheels flying thru the front window if you have to hit the brakes hard.

The verdict is in - ARC-8 18x9.5 et22, PSS 275/35 - very slight rubbing on the fender liner in the last 5 degrees or so to full lock but - get this! - only when turning left (right side tire). Can turn right all the way to full lock with no issues. Pretty good stuff!

wheels are tsw nurburgring
front 19x9.5 Nitto NT05 245/35
rear 19x10.5 Nitto NT05 275/35

I really like them and they are pretty light. The offset of the wheels is pretty awesome looking and i got a very slight rubbing in the front but not enough to do any damage at all. You cant even see where it was rubbing. I say was because as the tread of the tires wore down the rubbing quit. The NT05s are pretty meat-ie and have been pretty good on 5 track weekends. They are starting to heat cycle now though but i need new tires so they will be retired to my street tires now. They are loud as hell though.

If i had it to do over again i would find 18's like everyone else but i didnt do my homework before i bought them. the sizing really limits you on good track tire choices. Going to toyo proxies R888s next but not until the end of summer.

okay. My "stocking stuffers" are 19x9 and 19x10 with 265/35-19 and 295/30-19 respectively. That eats up a little more space.

I have a small trailer that I hauled my track tires with on the 135i. It does not fit on the new 1M and I have a BRRacing bar (orange) in the back that makes tire transport impossible. I have friends that will haul them when we attend the same event, but I really need a different solution. Anyone know of a hitch (arg!) for my baby? By the way 275X35X18s on APEX arcs with ground control camber plates. new nitto NT01s going on this week. the contis SUCKED!

I have a tire trailer (Trailex Tire Toter) that I haven't used in a few years. Since I wasn't using it, I "leased" it to a guy with Boxster (he originaly had a Porsche GT3 tow it). It's a great trailer in that almost ever piece is adjustable (see below).
