Are there any cool computer system mods?

I saw this one video where someone hooked up their android phone to a nav system. Spliting it into two screens. Screen one the keyboard on the phone and screen two was the desktop.

I am just really disappointed in my 2008 idrive system. If I could just use the screen and put raspberry pi in my car that would be awesome

I have looked there before and it is just tons of threads of people paying 2k to retrofit a newer Nav system.
