Do I have the fast version?

So Im driving down the road on my way to meet my friends for Ritas(great water ice). Not even in the mood for anything but a casual drive. I get behind this riced out Mazda 6. Its got tribal stickers coming down the trunk over each taillight and down both sides of the car. Over both exhaust ports on the bumper are "MazdaSpeed" stickers(good for 1/10th if you didnt know).

Im laughing and wishing I had time to take a pic of this for any and every forum. However, I end up lining up next to him at the next light.

Over his blasting music hes trying to say something to me. I can barely see his head(just the brim of his hat) because hes leaned back so far(thought he was taking residence in the back seat).

He says "Yo man, is that the fast version?" Seriously puzzled I just respond "Its fast enough for me".

Then the light turns green and he tries to nail it. Tires(front only) make a ghastly howl and I just roll on it not even trying to launch. I let him get a car length ahead and then just step on it. By the time I shift into 2nd gear Im at his drivers door. After the shift its all over, the car just leaps and by 55 Im a length ahead and let off.

He struggles to get himself out of his seat and leans halfway out the door with both thumbs up and is like "You rule!!!". But not in a defeated way, he was actually giving props.

Anyway, Im embarrassed I obliged him but felt good knowing that he can sleep at night dreaming about my car.

Thats all.

You probably could have easily outdone him without the Procede, but in your case the poor guy didn't know what he was up against.

But I'm sure he gets tons of respect at the local mall arcade.

Great story! It is interesting to see how things change when you drive a car like this.

My example:
For the first time ever, I was challenged 2-3 weeks ago by a 20 something in a Milan. He pulled up to me, and asked if I would race to see how he could hold up against a BMW. I knew the road was straight, and there are not places for cops to hide, so I said "Sure".

Light turned green, and the race was over almost over before it started. By the time I was at 3500 RPM in third, I left off the gas, and shifted into 5th and coasted. It was a crushing, and I really did not launch the car. Then at the next light, he pulled up next to me and said "Damn... that is FAST! you chip it?" "Nope" I answered. "100% bone stock. You should see it when I get it into 4th and push it!"
"You did not even get into 4th when you let off of it? "
"Nope" I said as a smile came to my face...
"Wow.. I wish I could drive that thing." as he shook his head.

He gave me the "rock on" gesture :rocks: and took off when the light turned. We were coming up to a 2-1 lane merge, and gave him the go ahead to go first. I figured it was the right thing to do, since he alread saw the back of my car enough.

I love this car! It is the best car I have EVER driven!

I once let a guy in an SLR McLaren beat me. Seemed the least I could do, I just wanted to make him feel good about himself.

YOU RULE! That's funny. But it is one of the things that I think makes us look LESS like assholes out on the road. Being seen actually enjoying the car, and actually obliging when folks prod a little bit. I get it a lot on the Motorcycle. Folks see this FAST Machine, they want to see it go! Even though they know they are going to get toasted I get taunted by Vettes and Civics alike. They just want to see the thing go. Sounds like that is what this guy was wanting. People are curious, they want to hear the cool noises, see the fast machine go fast.... Sometimes.

Weirdest thing though, first day with the 335, on the way home from picking it up in fact. Stop at a light, and a little old lady in a Camry next to me motions for me to roll down the window.

Not being too intimidated by little old ladies I did so. Upon rolling down the window she yells.

"I JUST WANTED YOU TO KNOW THAT JESUS LOVES YOU!"

This is something that I have never had shouted at me, I figured hell, BMW drivers do get all the love.... Even from the Jebus. :rocks:

I said "Thank you!" and went about my night.
