Help -- Advice Needed!

My wife and I have plans to go to Vegas later this month and has suggested that rather than flying we take my new e93 (she thinks it would be a fun road trip in the vert). I don't mind the idea of driving vs flying, but am affraid that the paint will get chipped/scratched/etc. driving through the desert on the way there and back.

Would you guys do it? Am I being over protective? I really don't want to come back with my hood and front bumper looking like sh!t.

Thoughts?

You are too attached to the car. It is meant to get scratches and chipped. What's the point of having a car if you don't drive it?!?

Drive it. That trip sounds incredible. If I could drive from santa barbara to las vegas right now, I would in a heartbeat..

I'd be more concerned with the extra 6 hours or so it'll take you each way to drive rather than fly!

I just traveled to san diego, and the flight was cheaper than the gas would have been to drive, and it's way faster

roadtrips are nice, but sometimes it's just too far

Sounds like a lot of fun! I'm always up for another Vegas run! If you are concerned about chips get a clear-bra. They work pretty well!

everytime you drive a car it's susceptible to chips so...I guess you'd just have to get used to that. Vegas sounds nice (might be a little hot).

i drove the 335i for the first time last week in vegas. vegas got the smoothest roads when compared to san francisco. almost no potholes, no messed up roads. the road made the car smoother then any driving machine available. i topped 100 for the first time in my life too

vegas should be good becuase it's so new. rich city fixing the potholes from gamblers money

WTF? Did you buy to drive, or to look at?

Give it to your wife, at least it sounds like she has the balls to enjoy it. Kidding KIDDING...

Seriously though, I wouldn't sweat it, don't tailgate, and drive the wheels off the thing. It's not a rare super exotic, it's built to be used. SO USE IT!

The car is supposed to be the Tool.... Not the driver.

Still Screwing with ya, but yeah just drive the thing. HARD!!!

Tampa Florida To Atlanta is another one of these. By the time you factor in all the Airport hassles, Driving is only about an extra 45 minutes. Vegas-LA can be about the same situation depending on your proximity to the Airports.

Drive it. I live in Vegas and have 11,000 miles on the car with no chips to date.
btw- Vegas highways may be in pretty good shape, but some of the roads suck here too. I bent 2 rims on my last car.
Enjoy the drive- I drive the LA once a month.

When you say you are concerned about driving through the desert, do you mean you are worried about sandstorms? If so, they are pretty rare. I would check the weather forecast before you go and unless there are reports of extremely high winds, don't sweat it.

Other than sandstorms you are just as likely to pick up a stone chip from a passing truck on the way to Vegas as you are where you live now.

Just go enjoy your car.

Don’t worry about the desert; I just got back last night from a Las Vegas Weekend. As long as you don’t drive behind big rigs don’t worry about it. The only thing that I got on my car was dust, and some bug kill on my window. The fun part about driving an E92 and E93 you will only see a few in Vegas. I only saw 2 E92. I drove to Caesars casino parking and they even parked the car in the front row next to Bentleys and other high end cars. Have fun with your car! bring back pictures

Do you have the new fuel pump installed? it would be sad if it bites the dust somewhere in the middle of nowhere.

to your wife. Definitely do it.

I'm not getting my 28 Cab until next year and I already have some ideas on dates for my Vegas trip in the car planned.
