Hi Michael, I guess much depends on when you ordered. I ordered on 2nd feb (a 320i sport) and it arrived at the dealer 10 days ago....with a scratched bonnet! Not the fault of the dealer and they have been very good in insisting on a complete new bonnet from Germany. I pick up the new car tomorrow, a week later than it should have been, but at least with a full tank of fuel.

The 320i only went into production at the beginning of march, so overall I'm pleased with delivery time.

Hi Micheal
I ordered my 320i Sport last week expecting a early May delivery, have just been informed by my local dealer its going to be second week of June! Maybe demand for the F30 is stronger than originally anticipated..Junction 17 please let us know how the 320i drives as I have only driven the 328i and 320d before I went with the 320.

It actually arrived on time on Monday, but is going to take a whole week to PDI. Still, can't wait to pick up on Friday.

Lucky guy, I am having to wait till June for mine!!! :-( Have yet to read a review of the 320i...Bucket loads of 328i & 320d reviews, it's the first time I've ordered a vehicle without knowing how it performs under the hood!!! BTW the 320d drives like a dream, if the petrol replicates it in any way I'm happy!!

Hi

I ordered my 320i Sport back in late January.

At the moment I don't know where the car is. The dealer told me last week it had been loaded onto the ship and would be in the uk on Monday. Monday turned to Thursday but today is Saturday and it's still not here. When I ask where the car is they don't know. They don't even know if it's docked yet or which ship it's on.

I feel I'm being messed around but as I don't know their systems etc I can't really tell.

They aren't able to tell me when it'll arrive. Not even a guideline date. It's so frustrating its unbelievable.

Apparently it's something to do with the logistics. There was some delay with shipping and it's created a backlog. I don't understand why they don't know where my car is.

Does this sound feasible?

Thanks.

Not sure whether or not your dealer is correct or not, as our friends in the US seem to have a far easier job tracking their cars, but it might be true.

Consider though, that I ordered my car in mid-dec and it arrived two months later. Waiting times have surely grown since then so I think you would be doing really well to take delivery of your car before mid-April. I suspect lead times of 12-14 weeks would be normal under the circumstances.

Still, congrats on your order and fingers crossed it gets here soon. In the meantime, I'd keep on at your dealer, it's the least they can do for their commission!

Thanks for the reply.

I do ring them quite often and I think they are getting annoyed with me now.

Apparently if they don't deliver the car today (not in march) then they don't get their commission.

I don't mind waiting as such. What's frustrating is the not knowing. Every time I ring them they tell me something different which contradicts the last thing they said. They don't even know of the car is on land or at sea. They don't know when it'll dock or if it has docked already.

Frustrating ain't the word!

Wow, that's ridiculous. Sorry to hear it takes UK deliveries so long. That's got to be really frustrating. I know the 6-8 week waiting period here is driving me crazy. Any chance of finding a dealership to drive to that has a similarly optioned vehicle?

That should not matter at all. Even a complete individually ordered car does not take 5 months to be delivered. I think it's completely unacceptable... any chance to see how things are with a different dealer?

If anything, if 335i's didn't sell, the wait would be shorter because then there would be less people waiting for the car.. Or that's what I would think anyways

It might have to do with the priority given to deliveries in the Netherlands for the 320i with 8 gear auto transmission.

Due to changes in regulations on co2 exhaust a number of new bmw 3 models will fall back in a more expensive tax class if delivered after 1st of july.

Therefore there has been a big order run on the new f30 in holland the last 3 months which might have impacted other european deliveries

I know that dutch bmw dealers have booked additional slots in the fabrication process for above mentioned reasons.

My 320i was ordered mid feb and will be delivered end of april.

Regards
Dutchbmw

Hi Dutchbmw
It's interesting what you are saying regarding the demand in the Netherlands, we are all getting concerned at these extended lead times, my 320i has already been pushed back 5 weeks from original 1st week of May, to hear others are now being told about mid August deliveries is seriously worrying.
Have BMW seriously underestimated the demand for the new F30 or are local concerns such as the tax issue in Holland spiking demand, either way it's a tempter to look elsewhere, new A4s in SE or Sportline trim are quoting just over 4 week lead times, it may not drive like a BMW but at least you don't have to wait half a year to get one!!

Mine took 7 weeks (11/2 to 31/3), but my God it's worth the wait.

What a fantastic car!

Bearing in mind I placed order Feb 15, an August delivery is a deal breaker for me. Told the dealer so & BMW have come back today with delivery to UK early June. I can live with that. I hope that's it now.
