M-World Presents: KW Clubsport 3-Way for M3/1M
Championship-winning performance for daily drivers

M-World is pleased work in partnership with KW to install and review one of the first available 3-way kits in the world. Based on the championship-winning Competition 3-way, the Clubsport 3-way is a brand new line of coil over with near-stock ride quality on the street and Clubsport level performance on the race track.

What the hell is 3-way?
The Clubsport 2-way provides independent rebound and low-speed compression adjustments. The 3-way adds high-speed compression adjustments.

On the street, the ride is much improved especially in cities with poor road conditions. The ability to significantly tone down the damping curve allows the car to ride very comfortably over large road imperfections such as potholes.

On the track, 3-way offers enhanced stability and platform control over large bumps and curbstones, offering advanced drivers total control of the chassis.

How are adjustments made?
All damping adjustments are made using adjustment wheels. Rebound (18 clicks) is adjusted at the top of the shaft. Low-speed (7 clicks) and high-speed (14 clicks) compression are adjusted on the piggyback reservoir. Each click is clear and distinct. All changes can be easily made on the ground without taking any wheels off.

How is the ride comfort on the street?
We had Clubsport 2-way on the M3 prior to installation so we had an immediate baseline to compare against the 3-way. On the streets, with high-speed compression on softest setting, the car is now able to ride through large road imperfections very smoothly. The damper is able to completely absorb the impact without upsetting the chassis of the car. The ride quality is excellent and not unlike stock suspension.

How is it on the track?
We will be there shortly. Stay tuned.

Is this the "normal-regular" KW V3 Clubsport or smth above it?

V3's and Clubsports are affectively different to begin with, share the same shell but different valving, piston rods, adjustments etc, but clubsports only came in 2way adjustability, until now and the above being the new 3way set up..... feat high and low speed bump adjustments.

Clubsport "3"= 2480 euros

All of these are fully adjustable, including in ride height. I'll get the DDC, which is adjustable with a 3 position switch. Modes are Comfort, Sport and Track. In my view, the Clubsport is really firm and meant for trackday fans only ...

who is your dealer? Is the DDC price including or excluding WLAN / IPOD adjustability. (without should be ~25xx).

Any curves (comparing to stock) anyone?

Hi eeghie ! These are official KW Belgium prices including taxes. The price for the DDC is not including the W-LAN module that you can control with your I-pod, I-pad, etc.. (+300)
I'll get mine from:
www.performance-store.com
It's an independent BMW specialist in Nivelles, Belgium, which is a chassis geek and has a lot of experience installing and setting-up KW's .

I agree, I run clubsports in my astra opc and matched with the comp springs they are very much trackday focused, I wouldn't appreciate in a daily driver but then my opc is semi stripped and has little or no creature comforts so the CS's are spot on as the opc's main focus is track, as for my 1M, it's a general use tool that it will only ever see the yearly pilgrimage or 2 to the nurburgring so the DDC set up will suit very nicely and goes in next Monday for instalation incl the w-lan module.

Based on my experience, ride comfort is not just a function of spring rates, but also the damping curve. I've driven my E92 M3 without rear shocks (it has KW Competition with 1,000 pound/inch rear springs), and the rear axle was surprizingly smooth over large road imperfections.

The beauty of the Clubsport 3-way is that it allows the user to tune down the high speed damping circuit, and this will make a big difference in ride comfort/compliance.

For those in Texas, this weekend we will have an M3 with Clubsport 3-way at Houston M Club's open track event.
