BMW ECU Reflash

BMW is severing ties with Dinan and developing their own performance products. The BMW ECU reflash will be covered by BMWs warranty and since it's their product they will be able to adjust timing, A/F ratios, DSC, rev limit, top speed, etc.. I am waiting for an answer from BMW as to whether the relfash can be changed from one leased car to another without paying the full price again. Many dealers are offerring the JCW ECU reflash the MINI Cooper S for a few hundred dollars. I am predicting that the reflash for the 335i will be about $500-$750.

Prior posts have stated that the reflash will be part of the second wave of performance products. Numerous dealers throughout the US have confirmed this. I am keeping my fingers crossed.

Are you using the force to come up with that number?

j/k--there has been a lot of speculation on what (if it really does happen) this will cost, what kind of gains will be expected, etc.

I would rather see one of these for the NA engines myself. You bastards already have the XEDE, ProCede, Turbo Tuner.....

BMW should just hire Shiv to do it. It would save a lot of R&D. I guess it would increase the cost as well?

I think it will cost more. I think they'll have to charge at least 1295 to 1995 for both dealer and BMWNA to turn a profit after adjusting for additional warranty claims it will surely generate.

I don't see why not, the R&D on an NA remap can't be too costly..., hell I'd be surprised if they didn't alread have the data sitting on the BMW servers.

Well you can't leave us dangling with that tid bit. Can you elaborate or is it something you just heard from a friend of a friend's cousin's brother-in-law who once hung out with a guy who almost bought an Impreza?

Shiv needs some competition from BMW to lower prices If and when BMW comes out with this software upgrade I would be more inclined to go with it rather than this Procede. If its under warranty and approved by BMW...ok by me.

This other stuff i'm just a little weary of. Long term effects? ...can't know yet.

When I was researching Vishnu, I saw some postings on a Mitsu board that suggested a Vishnu product blew up somebody's motor. Asked Shiv about it, and he dodged the question at first, but then said that the guy in question had tried to tune the car afterwards and did 7000rpm launches all the time. In any case, kudos to Shiv for responding to my question and having an awesome product.

As for me... I like the idea of a BMW warranty.

spewing crap about Shiv from "what you here" is such bullshit. Whether you mod your car or not, stuff is going to break. And if you continually push your car to the limit your inviting it.
