Fuel pump just installed.

I just got back from BMW with my new fuel pump installed on my 335i. The reason why i got the FP installed in the first place is to try to fix my long cranks(up to 3 secs) issue, but everything about the car runs fine. At the moment, I'm waiting for my car to cool down and later I will update you all, whether or not if the new fuel pump resolves my long cranks issue. I know some of you are in the same situation as me and would like to know future updates. I'll try to keep you posted.

Wow, just like that? Did they have the pump instock or did you wait x months for it to come in?

Did you have the long crank issue all the time? If not, under what conditions did you observe it? I only get it after the car is in stop-and-go traffic and then sits for 1-2 hrs. I never get it any other time. Otherwise the car always runs great.

I get the long cranks every time my car sits in for more than 3 hrs and it happens every morning when i start up the engine.

I'm not sure if the fuel pump is made by Bosch but I do see some parts numbers, I believe, in the invoice.
1 13-53-7-537-320 High-Press.Pump
1 11-13-7-259-690 ASA Bolt

I just tested my long cranks issue, and engine started instantly, but the engine was still warm after 3 hrs of cooling in the garage(hot night). Morning test tomorrow.

All is good. My car started up instantly with no sort of crank sounds during the morning test. So, at the moment, long cranks issue is fixed, and hopefully it will be like this for years to come.

Just curious.....how long is the "long cranks" issue? Is it totally obvious, like night and day, that when it happens it's not normal? Sometimes my car sits for 2 wks. at a time, and when I go to start it, it does seem like it doesn't start immediately--but it doesn't seem abnormal.

That's around 3% of the car's total value... scary...

My long cranks last up to 3 secs. It is obvious that it's abnormal because of the sound and frequency. It sounds like the engine doesn't have enough juice to start up. I never get any bad noticeable cranks though, but I do get noticeable cranks. Every time I start up my engine with the long cranks and if there are people around, I get that look from others. That look like what's wrong with his car.

Ha, well technically you didn't pay 0, but you paid for it when you bought your 335i and incidently you/we expect it to last for at least 4 yrs. So no you didn't pay to have it replaced but really you paid for that part of the car when you bought it. We didn't expect the part to fail already.

Just for the record, that part # above for your pump is the same part # in Jan Tech Serv bulletin. But that doesn't mean BMW has changed the part #, they could have kept the same # and changed part of the design to the pump and thus saying you got the new design.
