Uh oh, havent heard about this problem yet

So I get in my car tonight and BAM this big old red warning light: Car up on a lift, in addition to, the word "brake". So the car on the lift light goes away but the "brake" warning light stays lit.

At first I thought it was the parking brake so I jerk it up and down a few times but see that it has its own warning light. Luckily I was only 1 mile from home so I didnt have to drive too far on this.

Pulled the manual and what do I read? BRAKE PADS WORN - HAVE THE CONDITION OF THE BRAKE PADS CHECKED WITHOUT DELAY.

Um, I only have 2000 miles on the car. How can my pads be worn down already. This is not good.

Bring it into the dealer to check what's wrong with it. You're right, you shouldn't need to change your brake pads yet, especially if you only have 2,000 miles on it.

Keep us updated on what happens.

It is more than likely the sensor that detects the worn brake condition. I would get it to the dealer as soon as you have a chance. I had a similar issue with an oil sensor on my 330 cic - had it towed just to be safe though.

Being that I know my brakes arent worn, arent squeeling, and are stopping me just fine, Ill hold out for now. I dont think this is imperative where I need to get it towed.

With all the technology the Germans stuff into these cars there's bound to be glitches.

Get it to the dealership when you get a chance, all will be well.

I am certain that it is the sensor as well.

Yes there are brake wear sensors on the car. When I got my pads replaced on my 325i they replaced the sensors too.

Many Dealers will valet it for you. They came, picked up my car, dropped off the loaner, and then returned my baby all better than new the next day.

Just a thought.

I got the same light at 1400 miles, it was the sensor. If you do a search, a few other members had the same problem...

I had the same problem with my e92 335i also around 2000 miles. Except on my car i got the error message on the idrive screen saying "brake pads are work below the minimum limit" please contact your bmw service center to have them replaced or something along those lines...

Took it to the dealer and I think they had to adjust the brake sensor, apparently it was too close to the rotor or something and I think they reset the computer and it has been good ever since..
9200 miles total so far still on the original brakes and most importantly original fuel pump.

Should be an easy fix...they might even be able to do it while you wait.

DON"T GO TO THE DEALER! Search on this forum, I described in some thread here how I had the same problem at 1300 miles and I just reset the sensor myself in 5 minutes. One of the threads here has detailed description on how to reset the sensor.

scroll through your service indicator and see what the mileages are for front and back. For some reason this happened to my car 2 days ago, the service indicator showed --- for front and rear mileages, I reset them both and they`re fine. The car on the lift will also disappear when you reset it.

Instructions on how to reset it are in the DIY forum under my thread.

Mine does the same thing, in fact if you break down within 100 miles of my dealership, they will send a flatbed out to you with a loaner on the back. They drop of the loaner, you sign for it, and they load up your car, and you are on your way

Well, just tried following this post here:
http://www.e90post.com/forums/showpo...42&postcount=3

And all it did was reset my service indicator lights. Brake light warning is still there as well as the car on the lift. That totally just sucked.

Is your car manual or auto? Mine is auto, and the thread I found on how to reset it worked for me. If yours is auto, I will find that post for you.
