Help on dealing with dealer on a used car issue
My friend purchased her VW 1.8T last month at Open Road Acuara, in Wayne, NJ. They "certify" all their used cars for inspection of fluids, brakes & tires. Here's their link to one of their cars, her VW had the same ad. Scroll all the way down http://www.autotrader.com/dealers/dd...ler_id=1394418
My friend bought in NJ and drove it home in NH. It took her 20 days to get the title from them so she could register it, which she made just in time. Then she had 10 days to inspect it. She drove the car approx. 700 miles since delivery. When she went to get it inpected yesterday, she failed because her FRONT INNER BRAKES were at 2.32nd, which is about 90% gone from what the machanic told her. Open Road Acura "guarantee" is that all used cars are inspected for 80% of brake life. There was NO WAY she could have worn out the brake pads from 80% to 10% in a month. When she called them to complain, they gave her some bull that it's a "maintenance" part so it would not be covered. She just wants them to pay for the pad replacement. She will still continue to fight it because it is MIS-REPRESENTATION of their ad. Has anyone ever had any dealings with Open Road Dealers? They have seveal brands (BMW,MAZDA, Mini, Audi, etc) Or anyone had similar issues and what was the outcome? Thanks for you replies.

did they have this 80% brake life guarantee specified on the contract? you can issue a formal letter to their General Manager and indicate if no further actions are taken from their dealership, you will take them to court.
BTW, I never trusted used vehicles that are on showroom. From Dealership insiders that I know, if it is a good car, they would have bought it themselves and flip the car to someone they know.

Update - the dealer has agreed to pay for the brake pads repair. She decided to replace the rotors too since they will pay for the pads & install.
