new owner and a question!

I just found out about this forum today and just wanted to say hi . Anyways i got a 07 3.0si coupe that i leased back in janurary of 07 and ever since i got a ride in the Mcoupe, i cant seem to get it off my mind lol. So i went into the dealer and asked what my options were inorder to get the M. I got the obvious answer from the salesman...."you'll lose lots of money...blah... its not worth it...just wait till lease is over and then get M" (my lease is till the end of 2009) anyways before i give up, i just wanted to ask you guys if there were ANY way i can make this transistion without losing too much money... I know this is a stupid thing to do only after a couple months of owning my coupe but seriously the M is to die for IMO

What does money matter if you're so stoked over the M? Life's short, get it; be happy. Screw the salesman.

You can find someone to take over your lease.

And for anyone else that wants to test-drive the M-coupe but isn't planning to walk out of the dealer with one the same day, DON'T TEST-DRIVE THE M-COUPE. Heck, you have a 3.0si; I have a Z4M-roadster, and even I couldn't stop thinking about the M coupe after test-driving it. Don't make the same mistake I did.

The M-roadster and M-coupe are 2 completely different animals.

I can't believe that salesman would be around very long; he'd be strongly coached if he worked for me. There's always a way to close the sale...

Regardless, I don't understand why so many people are leasing these things anyway. You guys are getting soaked financially. All you're doing is paying for the worst part of the deal - depreciation and cost of money - and you can't even sell it if you want to. Pay cash for a CPO next time and then you'll have another 10k or so for toys or tickets!

We assumed the remaining 11 months of someone else's lease for our '06 3.0si earlier this month.

We wanted to test the waters of having a convertible again as a 3rd car (4th really...the E36 M3 track car sits chronologically before the Z4...) now that we are parental units to a 14 months old. We've had a series of cabriolet/roadsters before the baby and missed having one as the weather began warming up. I must say, so far so good...

Planning to have our second next year but it looks like we'll be keeping a roadster around, so may keep the Z4 given its low mileage after the lease ends next May, or more likely trade for a Z4M or a Boxster S (had an '01 before) for summertime enjoyment.

I agree. I have had both and I like the Coupe better as far as handling and spirited driving go. I liked the "Roaster" better on cool nights and evenings with the top down. If I lived in a no-snow-zone I would have one of each.

I think you should see if someone will take over your lease and then get the M Coupe. Just my $2,000,000

Yup... ask any Coupé owner out there and I know they'll all tell you that once you've caught the Coupé virus, there's no cure for it until you get one.

Hell, I didn't even need or wanted a new car back in Sep. '06. My last car still had another good 5-7 years before I would have considered my next car. But nooooo.... I had to go check out the Paris Auto Show during my Europe vacation. The Coupé took me by surprise, and then once I testdrove it back home, it was over. Damn you BMW for making such an irresistable car!!

No need to resist anymore... it's useless. Congratulations on your new(er) car, jk1231! And please post up some pics when you get it.
