Was out downtown the other night and parked in a underground garage (Novotel @ Esplanade, for Torontonians). Coming back to my car, I notice a $40 ticket saying "Parked in 2 spaces - Obstruction"...WTF? I was parked well within the inside border of the dividing yellow line and there were no cars around!!

Gotta think it was another bimmer hater!!

shoulda taken a pic and contested it....esplanade is really bad to park tho...always people gettin broken into by crackheads who want the silver coins

Was it actually issued to YOUR vehicle? Maybe someone else with a similar car got the ticket and then just stuck it on yours.

I would've gotten the parking attendent to come check out the car, and to prove to him that I didn't just fire up my car and reparked it, pop the hood to show them that the car's still cold.

I don't know why you just walked away? I know if I'm innocent, no way in hell I'm letting it go

there is no parking attendant in that garage...and it's not a municipal one either, so I can't go to court to contest it...that's why I am bit worked up about this

How the heck could you get a parking ticket in a private garage at all?

Is this some sort of Canadian thing?

Or, is the ticket a fake somehow?

If it's not a municipal ticket, I believe you don't have to pay it. HOWEVER, don't expect to park in that garage again though

Did you park in the garage just behind the Novotel? I park there everyday. If this is the garage, it's really strange. The garage is automated, but there is always an attendant at the Church street entrance. I would fight this ticket and place the onus on the parking police to produce photographic evidence that you occupied two spots. Innocent until proven guilty. I park my E90 there once in a while. Always praying that it doesn`t get dinged or scratched. There are much more expensive vehicles in that garage, but that doesn`t mean anything. Some people that park in that garage have no regard for the vehicles of others.

Anyway, sorry to get off topic. I`d fight this thing.

+1, don't pay it and forget about that garage. Plenty of other garages, parking lots and street spots to go to.
