my car died on me this morning

so i was almost late for work this morning... i started my car so my car can warm up a bit while im washing up and getting ready... i noticed the car is idling louder and rougher than normal but i thought maybe its just cause its kinda "cold" outside (65 degrees lol) my car sat outside my house for about 5 - 10 minutes and i put my car to drive and all my power got cut off and my car just shut off... i re-started my car and everything was fine... wtf?

You only waste gas by letting it idle. Just start it up and drive away.

What MadDog said. Check the manual, it recommends not warming up the engine as it wastes gas, takes longer to warm up than just driving it, and can cause additional wear and tear.

Especially when it was 65(!) out. Was warming it up really necessary?

It happened because you had started the car and left it there idling for minutes, uselessly polluting the environment.

Just so you know; Your car will not really warm up by just idling. All you do is waste gas, disturb other people and pollute shit.

you warm up your car? i guess the best advise i can give you is to not warm up the car ever. It's not needed.

And about your car turning off, one time i turned on my car and it idled high, then low then back up to high and then lower... kind of freaked me out, but only happend once. But i guess it did feel like it wanted to shut off. But it didn't. I thought it was going to but maybe it was all in my head fro hearing posts about this happening. Anyway good luck with that

you don't need to warm up your car at 65 degrees, may be at 50 or below, longer if it falls below 32.

Could be the dreaded fuel pump again...

Bring it to the dealer if it's still giving you problems. Let us know if it happens again.

Karl, how come you didn't go to the meet yesterday? Busy?

Wow, there must be a big climatic change from Short Hills to Long Island!

Or do you keep your car in an ice box?

Nope. No warm up is necessasry at all. Start it, drive and take it easy until it warms up.
