335i: is everything user programable now?
Last time I bought a BMW ('03 Z4) things like daytime running lights, door locks open sequence, clown nose blinking when locked, etc. had to be programed by the dealer. Nothing was user programable, even if you had NAV.
From what I'm reading the story is the exact opposite now. Everything is user programable within the Nav/iDrive: clown nose blinking, door lock sequence, etc. Is this the case, or are there still certain funtions that require dealer programming. I'm picking my car up on Mon so I don't want to miss out if there is something only the dealer can set. |

I don't believe that clown nose blinking is user programmable (and it may not even be possible to have it set independent of an alarm installation). That was something that was never officially on the list of dealer programmable functions. It was just something that people found out could be done (and many, but not all, dealers would do it).
All of the "official" dealer programmable functions (DRL, door locking, etc.) can now be done by the user even without Nav/iDrive. |

If you mean lights brinking on open and close as confirmition yes!
If I didn't missunderstand what you mean by crown brink, then yes its user programmable too. I like the way I can do all that in iDrive.

The exterior lights blinking when you lock/unlock is something else and that is indeed user programmable on the E9x. |

what jmonier, clown nose is right under your rear view mirror, only blinks when you have alarm installed. However, if you are a DIY kind of guy, there's a DIY on here that shows you how to make it blink even without an OEM alarm.

So what is the deal with the getting the dealer to program the clown nose to blink on lock? Same dealer did it no prob. for me w/ the Z4. Is it still technically possible to get the blinking w/o the alarm?
