My Marriage is coming between me and my BMW
Married men and fellow jewelry wearers,
Just recently I got married and started wearing my band. Have you guys/gals noticed that the plastic shreads off in the door handle area when you open and close your door? Has anybody found a way to combat this. Right now my options are to: 1) not wear my ring, 2) get a divorce, or 3) deal with it. Has anybody had this problem? Please let me know. (Don't worry, just kidding about 1, 2, for those who don't see my humor....but I am serious about what to do.) Thanks, Grahamstine |

I would just get a divorce, it would be easier then opening the handle with your right hand.

However I think the repair fees for the plastic damage caused by the ring will be slightly lower than the divorce fees.......

Get a chain, wear it around your neck if your driving, also looks kind of LOTR ish
or you could just use the other hand

why don't you put your ring on the other hand - and tell your wife how you really feel. You can't live with a ring that scratches the door handle of your beloved car, dispite being married wearing the ring just won't do. She should understand.

Just need to be careful.
The peeling is not anything new. Its been reported here by various members...I even think there was a service bulletin for it before, but I can't seem to find it right now. Take it to the dealer, they should fix/replace it under warranty. DO NOT tell them its the ring. Just say "hey wtf with my door?" Once fixed, you need to avoid messing it all up again.

Ring
Anybody ever tried covering the problem area with that thick clear 3m protective tape?
Absurd we are even having this discussion about a $40K+ car, but that's not the point, I guess. |

Grab the door map pocket to close your door.

Fantastic comments ladies and gentlemen! I have decided to go dukes of hazard style. However, being in outside sales, I might look like a freak. My wife is pleased with my decision as well. As for fighting in Iraq, God bless those there, but I would just mess things up, plus my ring might get caught on something.
My final decision is to suck it up and enjoy the car!!!! Thanks for your comments and supplying me with some laughs this Fathers Day. Have fun in your bimmers. Grahamstine |

this thread is hillarious......dude dont be ridiculous and your your damn FINGERS to do the job... the ring is at the base of the finger and you have 85% of finger (lol i'm getting technical about this?? ) to use for it's duties without scratching your car....no need for a divorce..
