And all this time I thought I was running Hot....

For the past reads I have seen on the forum regarding engine temps, I always hear the the temp point needle being described at the "halfway" point on the gauge. This always concerned me as I would always see my needle go way past the "halfway" point....until I saw a friends E92 and noticed something about his temp gauge and how it was different from mine. His was a 4/07 build and mine was a 6/06 build. The 1st pic is mine and the 2nd is his. See if you can spot the diff below:

it's been known for a while that they increased the max temp range from 300 to 340

He has the oil cooler with the temp gauge that goes to 340 degrees F. btw -- do you have a typo re: your car build...6/06???? The 335i's first arrived in Sept., '06...was yours like the first one off the line in Germany?

NOt a typo.....yes, it is 6/06. It must be one of them. I had a friend tell me that there were a "set" of E92 Coupe/red leather/6MT that were sent to dealers as demos - and were all tuned to be a little stronger. Maybe mine was one of them? No idea and can't really confirm. My stock dyno run is 281/292 rwhp but I'm not sure if that's a big enough variant to justify that I have an oddly powered car.

Yeah, that's kind of high for stock...mine dyno'd at 265WHP and 286 lb.-ft. RWTQ prior to Shiv's XEDE install; then post XEDE install, my car dyno'd at 322WHP and 378 lb.-ft. RWTQ. I didn't have my car dyno'd post PROcede install, but I'm guessing that it's similar to my XEDE...maybe even a tad higher.

That's normal. I believe they change it out so that the talk of overheating and getting close to 300 will die down a little. In reality, I think a 335i with an oil cooler would never surpass the 270 mark at max. I've never gone above 255 myself.

Nope. I have a 6mt with an oil cooler from the factory. Was out at the Miller Motorsports Park. My oil temps were around 285, 290 while driving it hard. Ambient temps were 85. Drive around one lap slow and it dropped to 250 easily

Hey Parker now I know why my car got a call from your car the other night complaining about you pushing the poor car so hard. Remember, cars have feelings too

+1, just got back from a DE today, same 6mt w/ oil cooler and I was running 280 in 90+ degree heat during 4 different 20min sessions.
