Wholesale European Delivery pricing?

I have searched, maybe not well enough, but I am unable to find the wholesale pricing for ED.

My understanding is that it is not the same as ED invoice?

It is my understanding that wholesale=invoice for ED. Wholesale is the term that is used by BMW, for what is the invoice price.

I think $1000 over or less is good.
I am getting $700 - Greg Poland's standard amount.

Yes, you can order ED from any dealership. However, a lot of people suggest to go with someone who has experience with ED. The only profit that the dealer makes is whatever they get over invoice, so someone that is more experienced in the process may offer a lower price because they are going to have to spend much less time placing the order. In contrast, someone that hasn't done an ED before may want to charge more since they are going to have to spend a lot of time as they learn the process.
Just make sure you are dealing from invoice price and it seems like anything up to $1,000 above invoice is a pretty good deal. I wouldn't deal with a salesman who is attempting to knock a percentage off of the MSRP.

why does that site have discounts for options?
bimmerfests ED wiki says you dont I believe.
so which is true?

also, anyone know if its required that you pick up your own car thru ED, or is it possible to assign someone else do it for you?
i ask because i dig this ED pricing, but will already be using all of my vacation balance this june in poland, and would prefer to have a relative in poland pick it up.

You can get them - I am.

Person who is picking up has to have their name on the contract / ED purchase order.

BMWconfig and the bimmerfest wiki are both correct. You do not get a discount on options. That being said, bmwconfig shows two prices for options: MSRP and invoice. Those prices are not discounted for ED, they are the same for US orders. A lot of people that do ED get the invoice pricing for the options, but it is at no discount. I will be picking up my ED in 10 days and the bmwconfig invoice price was exactly correct to the price worked out with my dealer.

yeh i just view the invoice pricing as a discount, for me, from msrp

but just to confirm as its still not entirely clear for me based on your post; all bmwconfig ED invoice pricing is accurate and the base ED invoice + ED invoice of all options and accessories is the price i pay?

or do i pay base ED invoice + msrp for any options, whether through ED or here at a dealer?

I did get options at ED invoice in 2008. Totaled up everything at ED invoice and deal was $1K over that.

Just to be completely clear:
  • There is a discount on ED prices, so you have US and ED MSRP and US and ED invoice base prices.
  • There is no ED discount on options, but there are still MSRP and invoice prices for options.
  • Depending on your dealer, you can get ED invoice + Options at invoice + a fixed adder

FYI, my dealer indicated 2 discrepancies with the bmwconfig option invoice prices:
  • Sport Line for 335i - $1700 MSRP and $1545 invoice (bmwconfig says $1550)
  • BMW Assist - $650 MSRP and $590 invoice (bmwconfig says $595)
  • So, I actually saved $10 off bmwconfig's total

My order is:
  • 335i Sport Line - 6MT
  • metallic paint
  • Premium Package
  • Tech Package
  • Parking Package
  • Adaptive M suspension
  • BMW Assist
  • BMW Apps
$700 over ED invoice + option invoice = $46,070
Lease payments are just a hair under $500/mo @ 36m/12K with 7xMSD.
I have to pay all taxes up front as I am in Texas.

Hey Pcbrew, did you work with a dealer in Dallas? If so who? I am about ready to place and would like to know how willing to deal DFW dealers are.

Thanks! Neil

how much is one security deposit? how much per month do you save?

Finally,
Why do dealers let you do this?

Thanks!

Hah! Nope. I went to Classic BMW and offered them the deal for 1250 over and they basically told me to get lost. The CA even told me they don't like to do ED at all - even at ED invoice - because they don't get all the kickbacks.

I went through Greg Poland at Pacific BMW - it's his standard ED deal. Doing PCD re-delivery instead of picking up in LA.

Each security deposit is payment rounded to nearest $50, and you get 0.00007 mf reduction for each up to Max of 7. So for 7*500=3500 in my case, I get 0.00049 discount. My payment would be ~$40 higher without this, so save $1400 over 35 payments (BMWFS makes 2nd payment bu they do charge you an extra 0.0003 on the MF for ED for this benefit.

They do it because ED cars are extra sales that don't come out of their allotment.

Yep, less than a month to go. I will be flying into Frankfurt as well and taking the bahn (ICE) to Munich (3 1/2 hours) since it worked out better for using FF miles.

Thanks for your help! I wanted to clarify the reasoning behind allowing for multiple security deposits. If you get all 7 back at the end of the lease, you are essentially saving the $1400 over the lease without having to do anything. Why would BMW allow this? wouldn't they be losing money?

Yes, you get the security deposits back at the end of the lease.
I do not know the details but I assume BMWFS has some formula for valuing the number of SD's someone is willing to put down and that they likely have a very low risk of default of other issues, like returning trashed or thrashed cars.
